Wet leg feeling

TotoroIsMyNeighbour · 10/06/2024 22:21

This is such a strange question, but for a couple of days now I've been feeling like my leg is wet. Specifically my knee. It feels like it is soaking through my jeans but when I touch it with my hand it is totally dry. I can't explain it but it is really unsettling and I'm wondering what on earth is going on!

You know what I am saying? Have you had it too?

Look up joint effusion and neurological disorders like dysesthesia and nerve damage. All of these can cause the wet feeling you describe.

Lokshen · 10/06/2024 22:27

I have had that. Unfortunately for me it was the first symptom of MS, although my disease has been very well controlled and treated and 25 years later I am still completely well (except for all the stuff that's not MS).

I've had foot drop in the past and had a lot of tests as an impatient but it resolved itself and no cause was found. I have noticed some numbness in a couple of toes for the same period which is worrying me

sort of, on and off but not the knee but the inner, left though in an area abut two inches wide and 6 inches long and I have felt my leg as feeling wet but its dry

TotoroIsMyNeighbour · 10/06/2024 22:33

I have Osteopenia and a history of non traumatic bone fractures but nothing else was found although it was been a couple of years since I've had comprehensive tests. I do sometimes have painful but quick spasms in my legs

Have they hecked your B12 levels as feet/toe feels number even if B12 is so-called normal range but at the very low end

TotoroIsMyNeighbour · 10/06/2024 22:37

B12 levels have never been mentioned just abnormally low vitamin D but now it is at a good level. I've had nerve conduction studies but nothing came of it. I was admitted as an inpatient years ago as they worried I had had a stroke but MRIs ruled that out.

I have had similar stuff like foot drop and wet leg feeling. I put it down to stress. Dr mentioned Functional Neurological Disorder which for me seems to be especially linked to anxiety. Seems to come and go when I am stressed.

Yes, chronic stress can seriiusly affect the way we feel for the worse.

That is interesting, thank you. I have been under a great deal of stress recently.

that's probably your answer then! Worth a chat with your GP in case, but try reducing your stress levels a bit and see if things change as well. Best of luck.

I have a slipped disc and get this, along with sciatic pain and neurogenic claudication.

It is the weirdest sensation. I was in a meeting and trying to subtly pull up my trouser leg to check my knee

@mopopo thank you for your advice. I appreciate it

@TotoroIsMyNeighbour no problem. Over the years I've had all sorts of horrible odd symptoms, sensations. So much so that I've almost learned to accept them as a sign I am under stress and need things to change (not always easy as a single parent). I look at them as "warning" symptoms from my subconscious rather than anything to be too scared about now. Which in a way is difficult as the symptoms are in themselves rather terrifying in some ways, especially when your foot goes numb or feels wet or other weird sensations (I have things like my eye can look slightly wonky or swallowing feels odd). But I know at that point that I need to slow down, destress. It's not always easy to do so but I've deliberately changed my lifestyle as far as I can - I try to work less, cut down on stressful tasks, take regular breaks, keep my home decluttered, treat myself (give myself little things to look forwards to) and so on - and am finding that they happen much less now. I know it's not always easy to slow down or destress, but if you can find any way, it is worth it! I hope things calm down for you. Flowers

I didn't realise that I had foot drop. I was just impressed that I could trip over a flat floor. I did not know that it was the first symptom of a bulging disc. As the disc got worse I started getting the wet leg feeling on the same leg.

I was treated with a steroid injection into the joint. Took a while for the symptoms to resolve, but it cleared up completely. Left me with some muscle weakness, so I still occasionally trip over a flat floor, especially when I'm tired, but no 'wet' leg.

ilovepixie · 10/06/2024 23:31

I have felt a wetness in my leg, like something dripping down my leg, but obviously there's nothing there. I also have
Pins and needles and numbness in my toes. I have just recently been diagnosed with a leg ulcer so this is all connected.

SallyWD · 10/06/2024 23:33

I get weird neurological symptoms sometimes - I've had wet leg many times. I've been to the doctors, had tests but they just think it's stress. It definitely gets worse when I'm stressed or even just very busy.
