Allergy warning Mr Beast Feastables Milk chocolate bar

Just a heads up if anyone in your family has a peanut allergy. My son does, he's 18 and bought a milk chocolate version of the Mr Beast Feastable bars from a local Asda this afternoon and had a fairly bad allergic reaction within 15 or 20 mins of eating it (non anaphylactic, luckily, but we had his epipens at the ready). There are no nuts listed in the ingredients list but there is the usual warning you often get on chocolate bars or cakes saying "may contain peanuts, tree nuts, soy and wheat."

Whille he has never had an anaphylactic reaction before he does carry an epi pen since having a reaction to peanut butter when he was 3 and having positive allergy tests at the allergy clinic in hospital. He is usually fine eating products with the "may contain....." warning on as long as there are no nuts in the ingredients list - he hasn't had any allergic reactions through accidental ingestion since his first reaction to peanut butter when he was 3, so I am assuming there has been contamination of the product with peanuts somewhere in the manufacturing process.

I spoke to someone at Asda who said they were going to check if there was a product recall on it. I'd already checked and there isn't so I'm worried that someone else may accidentally eat one. They only sell them in Asda and Spar. I've also filled out an online form with the Feastables company too but thought it was worth mentioning on here.

A quick google showed that there was a product recall in Australia/New Zealand last year after peanut contamination, so be very careful!

Allergy warning Mr Beast Feastables Milk chocolate bar….
My 16year old son who has up until today no known allergies, had an allergic reaction from a Mr Beast Feastables chocolate bar. The reaction started almost immediately after consuming the chocolate and it is all he had eaten (typically boy) he was on his break at college so I had to drive to meet him as he described his throat tingling, mouth felt like sand paper and his tongue felt weird, after I collected him he started to complain of tummy pain, and his top lip was slightly purple, I took him to A&E and they gave him an antihistamine tablet and we was sent away as he had no known allergies they said it seems to be a mild reaction and the beast bar only states it may contain peanuts, tree nuts, soy and wheat, on the way back home he started to complain of chest pain and feeling sick, he vomited a lot and came up in hives all over his body, back to A&E who straight away put a line in and gave stronger allergy medicine and another tablet, he was monitored for a couple of hours, I was told to keep an eye on him as when the allergy medicine wears off he could flare up again and to also get allergy test done as this could happen again. This was a very scary experience especially as he is not know to have any allergies! Be vigilant if you are thinking about trying these chocolate bars especially if you have known allergies.

Wow that's horrifying!
It must have been very scary for you both

Definitely worth getting him tested but also I think you should report this reaction? I think if you speak to allergy UK they will be able to advise

Very scary! He currently asleep now but I am watching him like a hawk as one of the medicine will be running out soon and I am worried the reaction will reoccur.

Thank you for the information regarding who to report this too, I will definitely do that as o think something is not quite right with all the information I have seen on the net regarding allergic reactions relating to this chocolate in different countries.

Yes, I am definitely going to get him am allergy test done as the doctor said it’s a high chance this could happen again and could be more severe as the allergy is unknown.

Thank you for you reply and advice,
