My ds girlfriend has scabies. They have been sharing a bed together for weeks in my / her house
She has masses of spots and has gone to the dr and covered herself in permethrin

My son hasn't got any symptoms yet, no itching or spots but I have ordered the cream as I know he must have it as they are inseparable and spend most nights together

I have got cream for myself and dh as well, as I have changed his bedding, handled his clothes and have used towels etc
My dh and myself aren't itching yet either

What do I do with the cream
I understand it can take 6+ weeks for symptoms to appear so really surprising he isn't itching already

Do I use the cream now as a preventive measure on us all
Or do I wait for symptoms to appear then use the cream to kill the mites

Don’t wait. Do it anyway. My dd caught scabies at uni. I’m afraid to say it took months to get rid of- perhaps because she struggled with the constant bedding needing washing etc and her house share friends weren’t willing to treat themselves because they weren’t showing symptoms. she finally came home from uni and washed everything and my DH and I treated ourselves regardless - we had no symptom’s and she finally got rid of it. It was horrible.

My DD and her BF had this a few months ago. Apparently it's rife at the moment. They used the cream and I washed DDs bedding and clothes frequently on the hot wash. I handled the laundry (just picking it up and putting it in the machine) but didn't treat myself, and I didn't get scabies. We don't share towels or anything though, so there wasn't much risk for me.

I think I picked it up a couple of years ago just loading towels into the machine. We have an Airbnb and bedding gets sent to a laundry but towels get done on a hot wash at home. It was the only thing I can think of.

It's horrible - I would treat straight away

Thanks, we will all get treated together then
Lots of washing as well!

My son bought this home from uni halls and we all got it. It was awful to get rid of and I think took us 3 attempts we found the lyclear lotion worked better.
You need to wash all bedding, towels and worn clothes at the same time as treatment. If you can't wash something put it in a black bag tie really tight and leave for 48 hours. Then wash when you have chance, this kills them off. I wish you luck
