12 year old chipped front tooth.....long term cosmetic prospects

My child has broken their from tooth (about half). Has anyone been in a similar position and what we're the treatment options? How cosmetically attractive were any long term results.

A friend of mine broke her two front teeth. They were fixed with fillings and look perfect.

Other than the fact that she has to be careful with certain foods, you would never know.

Me. I broke my front tooth in 1/2 when I was ten.
Had a filling for 40!years. It gets changed occasionally as it begins to discolour. Although. It does depend on how much damage was done. Another friend did the same and had to have a root canal at 15. And eventually a crown

My son did this at around age 8. He had a filing to build it back up which has lasted 10years and counting now. You wouldn’t notice the difference!

My sister, who broke her front tooth as a teenager. She had a temporary filling at the time, had that for years. I think she eventually had a crown but she's over 50 now so that was many years latter you would never have know to look at her teeth though.

I did this as a child. I had composite added to the broken tooth (they form a tooth shape from a paste, which then sets) and have had it all my life. You can't tell the difference.

They told me I'd have to get it replaced every so often as it would discolour, but it hasn't.

How high has the break gone? You need to get to a dentist asap in case the inner tooth has been damaged, that's important.

Do you have the broken bits of teeth? Apparently they can use them to create a new tooth. Keep them moist in milk till you get to the dentist.

If you can't get an appointment with your dentist, go to the emergency dentist.

About 3 years ago my DD (who was 9yo) broke her front tooth, snapped it in half. Our regular dentist built it up but it kept coming off and taking a little bit more of her tooth each time.

After about 6 months she was referred to the dental hospital, had a root canal and they used composite to rebuild her tooth.

I did this as an 11 year old. First filling lasted until my early 20s but subsequent fillings never lasted longer than a year or so - dentist said this is because old glue gets in the holes and becomes harder to stick? So I opted for veneers on my 2 front teeth after that. (I lost half of one tooth and corner of the other)
