Numb fingers

skyatnight · 07/04/2008 11:33

For the last few days, the outer sides of my hands and my little fingers have been a bit numb. I am assuming it is some kind of RSI, possibly from leaning on my elbows too much. I have had a numb hand before in the past due to too much typing and it got better after some rest.
?

i have had this, i even went to see a specialist about it. it healed itself, took a while though. definitely caused in my case from leaning on elbow too much during a particularly boring temp job

Thanks. I think it must be the same thing. It is a bit scary though. I start getting paranoid. Oh well. I'd better give up Mumsnet for a while as well then.

or get some elbow pads

TooTicky · 07/04/2008 13:43

Is it worse when it's cold? My fingertips go numb on days like today.

skyatnight · 07/04/2008 13:45

Of course, some elbow pads! What was I thinking of? Giving up Mumsnet, impossible, ridiculous!

TooTicky, I do have bad circulation and often have cold hands but I am thinking that it is an RSI-type thing because the whole of my forearm feels a bit weird. I've been tired and slouching over my desk recently, lazy about my posture, so probably have been leaning too hard on the desk.

Some kind of hand/arm exercise every 15 minutes or so maybe?

I had something very similar a few years ago and was diagnosed with Reynaud's Syndrome. It's a very common circulatory condition that many women suffer with, particularly in the colder months. As far as I know it's harmless and can come and go (as is the case with me).

I've heard of Reynaud's syndrome. I will look it up - shouldn't be too scary if it's harmless and comes and goes, it doesn't sound too bad. I still think it is some kind of RSI, though.
