Anyone else struggle with bladder?

I posted earlier the year about a uti that wouldn't clear. After a number of different antibiotics it eventually went.
The problem is that I am still left with severe bladder 'awareness' and I constantly feel like I need the loo.
As soon as I have been I feel desperate again and I feel uncomfortable all of the time.
There is no pain when I actually urinate.
This predates the uti in January. I've had it with various degrees of intensity for many years.
GP says it's just something I need to put up with but it has a really big impact day to day.
I am fully into menopause and 5 months again I started vagifem but this hasn't made any difference unfortunately (I was so hopeful.)

Anyone else struggling with their bladder and want to moan?

I don't drink tea / coffee or alcohol. Don't use any perfumed products. Done all the standard advice.

Really appreciate all these replies. Given me a bit of hope too that there can be some improvement.
Will do some research into local physios and will get that supplement.

I had the exact same issue, op. UTI that went away but left me always aware I slightly needed the toilet and I was up several times in the night. I am now on month 2 of the Jude supplement and I'm trying to go when I need but never 'just in case' which I was also bad for. The supplement is only 2 ingredients which you could easily just add to your diet - but I know I'd forget. Whether it works or is placebo, I've noticed a huge difference.

I looked into whether it would be cheaper to take the two supplements separately. I couldn’t find them on sale individually so went with the Jude capsules.

Fingers crossed you notice a difference too.

Three months after I had my son I got a water infection. That was 20 years ago and my bladder has been broken ever since. Like u I had years and years of needing the loo all the time and didn’t.

things I have learnt over the last 20 years ( for what it’s worth )

  1. the bladder learns things. The more u go the more u will need to go. Google bladder training.
  2. liquid isn’t the only thing that can annoy ur bladder. Look up the ic diet and go from there. Mine is even done to certain ingredients in certain foods as well like bread. As an example I cannot have oats as they annoy my bladder. Yes that is weird lol.
  3. Be careful with supplements. Some will annoy ur bladder more.
  4. make sure if ur testing out what food and drink annoys ur bladder do it one at a time.
  5. if ur bladder is annoyed by foods it can lead to symptoms of cystitis. Even though u don’t have it. Feels like ur bladder is sore. I use Azo from Amazon lt turns ur wee yellow but helps with the effects of a uti.
any other questions please ask. I have been dealing with this for years and years. I can now have a cup of tea everyday but has taken me 20 years to get to that point. It is hard and it does affect ur life.

Funny I should catch sight of this thread today - I've been trying to get a GP appt all week. I have the opposite problem - I hardly pee and when I do, it trickles out really slowly! I've had poor flow/hesitancy on and off for years. I don't have any pain in the urethra, but occasionally, my first pee on waking causes a terrible spasm-like pain in what I assume is my bladder.

I'm 51 and taking HRT, including vagifem. I last had bladder investigations and a cystoscopy 20 years ago, when I was getting recurrent infections (everything was normal other than the massive white cell count in my urine at the time, despite no bacterial growth from my sample). I suspect I need to do the flow test thing and need a referral, but it's getting to see a GP first isn't it.

I have insurance - need to check if they'll cover a referral from a private GP or if it has the be NHS, because the insurer itself offers a GP service!

It's super frustrating though, never having a really good, relieving wee.

Hope you get the referral sorted @Blutopia

@dahliaaa i know this is an old thread but I wanted to ask how you are doing now?
I’ve having very similar symptoms but I didn’t have an infection to begin with, it just came on gradually. Hope you are doing better.
