Scabies..please help me

I feel so incredibly embarrassed even writing this.
Back in February, I met a 'lovely' man, ended up getting in a relationship, a few weeks after he came out in a rash that started on his forearm and gradually spread all over his body, he claimed to have went to doctors and even the sexual health clinic who didn't seem to know.
Me, being silly didn't know what scabies was, or looked like and I just kept telling him he will be ok, reassuring him as he was so down about it, we had sex a few times whilst he had this rash because again, I didn't know what it was, neither of us did, well turns out he actually knew now.
Long story short, he cheated on me and the girl had told him she had scabies before the rash even came out on him, then played it out to me like he had no idea, even willingly gave it to me. Doctors eventually said it was scabies so he said... I was upset but I didn't use my due diligence so I didn't really have a cause to be mad.
Anyway, how I found out he gave it to me because of the girl is because she contacted me as she saw him post us and tagged me on social media and let me know, she even sent the screenshots of her being apologetic and things about giving the scabies to him.
We broke up because he also gave me an STI along with that, a man of many gifts!
My concern now is that since this rash has came on my skin, I have not been able to get rid of it!!! It physically won't go. I've done absolutely everything right and I just keep coming up with more spots every single day. I've tried the lotions and they haven't helped. The doctors have now referred me to dermatology as they say I probably have a resistant form. The itch is unbearable. It's my best friends wedding next week and I was supposed to be a bridesmaid but unfortunately because of the scabies, she had to tell me I won't be able to as we were all supposed to get hair and make up done together and admittedly that wont be right of me to do. She said I am welcome to still come and stay over at the venue but I can't get my hair or make up done and to also not be hugging anyone.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't feeling extremely depressed about the whole thing. I've even met a lovely man, but seems we won't work because I feel like this will never actually go and eventually I'll have to tell him as I can't maintain distance forever, I'm even tearing up as I write this. My ex truly was an evil evil man and I wish I never believed a word out of his mouth 😭😢 attaching pics of the spots also.

if you’ve done the Lyclear (permethrin) cream once, then repeated after a week, then repeated this regime again, and it hasn’t worked, I suggest you firmly request the ivermectin oral tablet. There are potential side effects but it’s sometimes the only treatment that works.
Look up the NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) info on best practice treatment for scabies. Also if you can request Chlorpheniramine to take at night. It will help you get some sleep and respite from the itching. Good luck.

I've been referred to dermatology and it is looking like I will have to take the tablet. Really don't want to though. I'm awful with medication, always seem to get every side effect going, so if I can avoid it, I would like to. My skin is also burning bad everyday now. Not sure if it's the treatment or if the scabies is affecting my skin. Either way it's a nightmare.

I’m sorry, I know it’s just horrible. Re the burning, have you used the permethrin cream more than directed, maybe? I’m the same as you, I get side effects so often. It’s a tough call, a real dilemma as to whether to take the tablet or not. In the end I think it’s a case of desperation! My friend took it and had no side effects at all (and it worked).

I had quite a reaction to the lyclear, it made my skin very sore and itching and spots way worse for a few weeks before it got better.

elliemayxx · 08/06/2024 09:04

@SleepyCrow absolutely. And honestly, I want it gone. To be honest, for the past few days the itching has actually calmed down a bit (to the point I'm able to ignore it) but I'm not sure if I've just got used to it now or the itch has genuinely calmed down. However the spots, definitely has not calmed down. I feel so ugly. 😢

@LivingDeadGirlUK interesting! My skin is burning a lot so I think I may have to keep treating with derbac m now. Ordered a bottle last night. I think it's ruining my skin honestly.

So frustrating!! Used lyclear and then also used Kleen green this morning (apparently a good natural remedy chemical free) and realised I forgot to hot wash my underwear😭 I've now had to go and touch it to put it in the wash. This is so so annoying!!!!! Ugh. I'm tired!

tbh this sounds positive because the spots might be from the Lyclear. Its a waitng game now at least 2 weeks if not 4, keep stocked up on antihistamines.

Floraflower3 · 05/06/2024 13:44

Can you report someone to the police for knowingly transmitting scabies to you? I’m so sorry for you OP this sounds horrible, I would be fuming!

Don't be absurd!

EnglishBluebell · 08/06/2024 22:38

@elliemayxx Hi Scabies is hell I know. Sounds like you need the oral tablet but in the meantime, Eurax anti itching cream is really helpful and also, any antihistamine that contains Loratadine will give you several hours' break from the itching Gin

Thank you, was so hoping I wouldn't need the tablet as I am prone to every side effect going, anti biotics, even simple ibuprofen effects me negatively so I can't imagine this one would go down well. Sigh.

omg! I got scabies in February from a hotel in Brighton. Also, spent that night with a man :(. Please don’t be embarrassed, I know I am, but we must approach this kindly.

I initially did permethrin- didn’t work. Then, Ivermectin 4 times, alongside Benzyl Benzoate. Works but the scabies seem to come back after a week or so. This is despite extensive cleaning. Anyway, do PM/reach out if you want to connect over this journey to becoming scabies-free. I hope the scabies will go one day. But I’m also running out of hope.

Sorry for the late reply, only just seen this! Do yours ever disappear?! Because mine never do :/ I still have it, I am also still dating this lovely man I met after my ex and really don't want to pass it over, we haven't been intimate yet because I genuinely don't want to give this to him. He's so lovely and understanding as he's still around me, hasn't caught it from me since but I imagine it's because we haven't been intimate.

I've got it too atm. Just ordered the cream. Picked up days after being informed a client has it, I work in close contact. Has your GP seen this rash as measles is also a problem atm.

ohyesido · 01/07/2024 13:35

Scabies is horrible to experience but it’s not sexually transmitted you can catch it from dirty money so my mother told me. I had it a few years ago and had to slather on this cream and while it was unpleasant it killed it straight away. Throw away sheets, boil wash duvet and you should recover and avoid reinfecting yourself

Yeah GP did, and then they didn't know what it was so referred to ex dermatologist now GP in doctors and he straight away said it is scabies :(

Thank you, think I will try the new duvet and pillows. I know it's not sexually transmitted but sexual contact is a way of transmission and is how I unfortunately caught it. Just don't want to pass it to my new partner, he is aware and is lovely about it, very understanding but for how long will I have to keep saying 'we can't get too close because of scabies' it's exhausting and I'm sure he is also finding it tiring now. It just won't leave my body🙃
