Don't know any remedies

But dd1 gets travel sick (in the car) if she is looking at books/colouring-in

So we banned that pronto

we use phenergan for DD on the advice of the HV - tastes foul, but does work - she is prone ot vomitting if we travel for more than 30 mins!

DS has joy rides, they seem to work too

I suffered with travel sickness terribly as a child and still suffer as an adult . It's a horrible thing.
I don't know how old your little on is but the things I've tried myself are:
Travel sickness tablets - make sure they are taken in plenty of time before the journey.
Plenty of water to drink throughout the journey.
Sucking mints.
I find eating crisps helps too - not sure if the salt helps. (Well it works for me anyway!)
Definately agree with the not reading/drawing etc.
Mum used to make me sit on a newspaper - not sure if really has any benefit at all but it worked for me. Probably one of her little tricks to make me thing I would be ok and it took my mind off it. [blush ]s

We resorted to tablets for a return jouney from France after experiencing the "Vomit Comet" crossing

Then we tried the Boots "Travel Bands" with little accupressure points (on wrists) and they seemed to work as well.

dollybird · 06/04/2008 21:22

thanks for the tips. She is 4.7. Last time we were only 1/2 an hour down the road and we had to change all her clothes at the side of the road and it was freezing!

has anyone tried those accupressure bands or are they just for adults?

Yes I was the same poor little love. My mum used to take me on the bus ten minutes into town and would have to take a sick bag for me every time.

Someone at DDs school recommended the sitting on newspaper tip when they went on a coach trip -DD is convinced that it works (and I expect thats half the problem solved if she believes it IYSWIM)
