@BloodyAdultDC nobody on this thread underestimated how serious it is. My 9 year old at the time took Sepsis and was hours away from having his leg amputated. He spent months in hospital recovering. Nobody at all said it wasn't serious, we were correctly stating that it isn't an infection.

Do you mind me asking how long your son was in hospital recovering?

My 8 year old is currently in hospital recovering, he almost had to have his leg amputated too. We’ve been in hospital for 3 months so far.

@Kirbert2 my son was in for around 4 1/2 months, and had to go in daily for IV antibiotics for around 2 weeks following discharge. They only allowed him home when they did because it was Christmas

@Kirbert2 also wanted to add I hope your little one recovers well. It's such a stressful thing for them to go through x

I’m so sorry. I meant to come back to this thread but I think I originally posted when I was in the midst of panic. My mum was very poorly indeed and turned out to be sepsis brought on by a UTI plus another (at that point) undiagnosed infection elsewhere in her body. She was in hospital for 3 weeks (we had to fight to get her in!!) and the delirium she had as a result was something else. We weren’t told til later that she was minutes away from her organs shutting down . Like others have said, it’s frightening how quickly it can take hold.
thank you to everyone for sharing and I’m so so sorry to read some of your stories x
