Gallbladder removal advice

My BIL has an upcoming operation to remove his gallbladder due to having gallstones and a bad flare up about 6 months ago.
Him and my DSis are due to go on holiday a few weeks after the operation. They are wondering if he will be able to eat & drink as normal after having it removed, ie. Would he be intolerant or sensitive to particular foods? Would he be able to drink alcohol? He's not a massive drinker but would like a few pints or a few glasses of wine over dinner.
Has anyone who has had their gallbladder removed got any advice on aftercare/recovery and diet afterwards? Thanks

I could eat completely normally after my gallbladder removal. In fact I could eat better than before because I had to avoid so many food to avoid flare ups.

I had mine out years ago, other than the expected recovery from the op itself, I didn't have any food or drink issues.

I wouldn't have gone on holiday a few weeks after though. Has he checked with his insurer?

My surgeon said a small number of people have some lower tolerances for eating very large or rich meals after the op as the gall bladder is meant to be used when the digestive system has a lot of work to do.

However, Similar to the last poster, I was completely normal after and could eat much better than before the op.

My daughter and I have both had ours removed in the last year.

Both eating normally immediately, in fact eating better than before because we weren't worried about avoiding fatty / spicy food.

Thank you that's all very helpful.
I've just worked out it's actually about 7 weeks between op and holiday so that should be enough time for recovery shouldn't it?

I had mine out nearly 3 weeks ago and can eat normally now . I know some people can be prone to a dicky tummy but it hasn't been the case for me . I had a couple of glasses of pimms at a wedding last weekend and was fine . I'm going on holiday in 2 weeks and my surgeon said I'll be fine to go. My incisions are healing nicely . I'm actually looking forward to eating what I want on holiday without the worry of having an attack .
