Tooth extraction pain, what can help?

My 16 year old daughter had two teeth out on Friday to make way for braces.

She is in a lot of pain as they really struggled to get them out. It took half an hour of jiggling etc until they finally came out.

She's taking paracetamol and ibuprofen regularly but has been up all night as she couldn't sleep for the pain.

Her breath is rank, her cheeks are red and she said she was a bit shivery in the night. She doesn't feel hot though.

Is this all normal and to be expected, and is there anything else I can do for her. Dentist will be closed so not sure what else to do.

Sounds a bit much for a couple of days later although i would expect it still to hurt, has she been gargling with salt water? Was she given any antibiotics? If its still not improved by Monday id get her back in to the dentist, dry socket is a possibility, or infection

Could it be dry socket?

My daughter had a tooth removed earlier this year (lunchtime) and her pain had gone by the evening. She had a bit of discomfort but didn't feel like she needed any painkillers.

Orajel is really good for numbing gums but not sure if you could use it on an open wound. I got it from amazon but saw it in morrisons the other day.

Gargling salt water helped me with my wisdom tooth. The tooth hole feels weird and uncomfortable for a few days but shouldn't be painful after that length of time. Or maybe a bit of food is stuck inside the hole.

But i would contact the dentist. There might be an infection.
