Period delay tablet for 12 year old - good or bad idea?

My 12 year old is going on a school water activity trip at the end of this week.
She tells me her period is due at that time and would like to take a period delay tablet (I've seen it advertised in Superdrug).
Not sure if this is a good or bad idea as I've never known it.

Has anyone had any experience of this?

No personal experience but I’m a GP receptionist and they prescribe it. I’m not sure if she’s too young though.
I’m 55 now and thankfully periods are a thing of the past but my first ever one arrived on holiday and I think I had one on every holiday onwards till the menopause so I sympathise.
Either meds to delay it or the new period proof swimwear which is available now.

Bad idea sorry. It makes the next period much more heavy and possibly comes twice. Tried it last May I spent much of my weeks holiday asleep and feeling out of it then a fortnight later two of the heaviest bleeds in quick succession which could only have been chemical induced. I wish I’d been refused.

Noristhistone- the period delay course spelt as close as I care to remember; never again. I recently went back on the pill and second time initial couple of days around that was hard whereas first time was quite a breeze. I’m sure it will be worth it in the end.

But I imagine this stuff works differently for everyone, I’ve known people have the coil and remark never having a single period whatsoever yet for some of us that isn’t the case either.

I definitely took something to do this when I was around 14/15. Not as young as 12, but as far as I remember it didn't have a big impact on future periods. But everyone is different so it is a risk of course.
