Fell on my Face! Help!

On Sunday I fell as I was walking the dog and had an altercation with a stone wall.

Home now after being treated in A&E.

Has anyone please got tips for ensuring optimum healing, hopefully without scars?

At first, it was thought the cut along my eyebrow would need maxiofacial input. As I waited quite a long time to be seen the wound had started healing and it was decided to let it carry on with minimum intervention. I am happy about this decision.

I would like to make sure the long thin cut heals without leaving too much of a scar. My glasses broke as I got the wall.

I am in my 60s and I have rosacea and wonder what impact this will have.

I have leaflets from NHS and common sense but I know the wise women of Mumsnet are potentially a mine of information.

Here is a link for Cica care gel sheets, they are wonderful, as soon as you have healed apply these.

Ouch you poor thing. Once the swelling goes down it will all be less scary and alarming looking. Look for scar therapy gel/ plasters ,they're very good.

Rest a lot and give yourself time to heal. I don't see how this will affect rosacea.

Thank you all.
I am feeling very sorry for myself today.
I had lots of plans this week.

On the bright side, so many people have been so very kind.
So I am sad and grateful, proper Gemini behaviour 😉😳

Don't underestimate how shaken up you'll feel over the next couple of weeks, a bang like that is a big thing, take it very easy on the sofa with your feet up in front of the telly. Keep up with pain killers too as you'll get lots of bruising come out over the next few days.

This literally happened to me 3 and a half weeks ago, where I fell and my glasses caused me injury :( all I will say is your body heals really quickly! Mine appears to have been worse than yours and it's improved alot already. I've done a lot of research as it really upset me that it's on my eye (I had the worse bruising too) and I read silicon sheets on a lot of places which I have bought from Amazon and used since the wound closed up. They seem to be great so far. I also massaged Vaseline into it once it was closed which I've already read in a lot of places.

I have bit of fluid around mine (I think from research) or it's still swollen which is still getting me slightly down but one positive is it's summer and I can get away with pretending I'm Victoria Beckham in my sunglasses a lot 😉

I hope you feel better and I'm here if you want to chat about any worries or delayed trauma from the fall! Let me know how you get on :)

Olivia2024
I hope you are healing and feeling better.

My face is much better, though I am a little concerned today.
I still have a large lump on the eyebrow ridge which the scar bisects.
My eyelid is swollen too, and all of that area of my face still hurts.

Should I be worried or is this normal?
It's not even 3 weeks yesterday, I think!

Ouch! Looks painful. My GP told me zinc sulfate (220mg) and Vit C 1000 soluble help with healing.

Vitamin E is good for skin healing. Get some capsules from a health food shop, break one open and apply the oil directly to the skin. You can do it daily.

EarthyMamma · 13/06/2024 19:48

Thank you both, will try those ☺️

Hypericum and calendula cream is really good for rapid healing of wounds and minimising scarring. Bigger branches of Boots stock the one made by Nelsons, but if you can get your hands on the one made by Helios Homeopathy in Tunbridge Wells, it's fantastic.

I used it on the surgical scar from a knee replacement and the scar was very faint after just a few months.

Frankgodno · 13/06/2024 20:23

Ouch! Hope you’re ok!

arnica cream/tablets ?

EllBellWell · 13/06/2024 20:25

Castor oil is what I used. It's natural, out of all oils, it penetrates the deepest and it's cheap. You would needn't add a little moisturiser as it is hard to spread. Amazon sells it, make sure it's organic and in a glass brown bottle. I still use it for many things.

Hope you feel better soon.
