What does your GP say it is ?

RookieMa · 23/05/2024 19:18

I'd go straight to A&E if it's spreading

Leave now

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 23/05/2024 19:18

Her legs look mottled rather than a rash. I would say this is a 111 job.

MeepMep · 23/05/2024 19:19

Have you done the glass test?

This.

Cliedi · 23/05/2024 19:19

Does it blanch? (Press a glass against it and it should fade) if it doesnt 999

WonderingWanda · 23/05/2024 19:21

Impossible to tell from your photo but looks like a viral rash which doesn't need to go to a&e unless it fails the glass test.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 23/05/2024 19:23

Do the glass test. If it doesn't blanch go straight to A&E. Otherwise, if you're worried I'd call 111 for advice.

Mamaxo · 23/05/2024 19:25

I should have said I've done the glass test and it goes, we're actually away on a one night holiday so haven't spoken to a dr yet, home in the morning and I will. Don't think it's a&e job when she's eating drinking no temperature ect

Has she got red cheeks? It could be slapped cheek.

ClaustrophobicKipper · 23/05/2024 19:30

Has she been exposed to any new chemicals, bubble baths, fabric conditioner, etc? It's hard to tell from pictures, is it raised and itchy for her? It looks a little like my daughters when she had contact dermatitis to a new detergent

Mamaxo · 23/05/2024 19:34

@YourSpryWriter yes her cheeks are red and rashy
@ClaustrophobicKipper haven't changed anything, used the same bubble bath, creams, shampoos ect nothing new x

I was going to suggest slapped cheek too, my DD had it and it spread to her entire body. GP confirmed it was slapped cheek. Took about 3-4 weeks to go completely, flaring up worse when she was upset.
Obviously this is just my experience

Ihavesomeideas · 23/05/2024 19:47

Former paediatric nurse here + I pretty much agree with everything said so far.It looks like lots of things.Face could indeed suggest Slapped cheek syndrome. If no temp unlikely to be scarlet fever.Wouldnt rule out Rubella ( German measles) Anything on their hands or feet? In or around their mouth? Could also be prickly heat ,as someone said already dermatitis from something new or chlorine in a swimming pool?

YourSpryWriter · 23/05/2024 19:52

I'm not a doctor but I think it's Slapped Cheek. She isn't contagious any more and the rash will clear up on its own. Slapped Cheek seems to be going round at the moment.

Mamaxo · 23/05/2024 19:55

@Ihavesomeideas nothing in or around her mouth or hands and feet, mainly legs then spread to back and cheeks, runny nose, slight cough, but eating, drinking and running around like no tomorrow x

I’d say slapped check too. My daughters spread all over her body and was an awful mottled rash but was blanching

Ineedhelp1999 · 23/05/2024 20:21

Slapped check, both my younger children have just had it and it looked identical.

Mamaxo · 24/05/2024 12:45

Thank you all, drs think it could possibly be measles

Ihavesomeideas · 24/05/2024 13:15

Hope they feel better very soon!

Cliedi · 24/05/2024 15:51

Hasn’t she been vaccinated?

Mamaxo · 24/05/2024 16:27

@Cliedi yes she's fully vaccinated

OP posts:
Ihavesomeideas · 24/05/2024 20:12

Any child or Adult can still get measles even when fully vaccinated. It would probably take prolonged exposure to catch it when vaccinated .Its usually a milder version . Measles are incredibly contagious that's why it causes epidemics. It can live in the air of a room for 24 hours after a person with measles has been in there. Before we were allowed start Paediatric nursing training we all had our immunity levels checked. Chicken pox, measles etc. Anyone found to be low had a booster. I hope your child gets better very soon.

Mamaxo · 24/05/2024 20:14

@Ihavesomeideas she was immune suppressed for a while due to medication but there sending us tests and will check her immunity to, her legs look terrible the rash is shocking x
