Hi, i have a few things going on, and just wanted to know does this look normal? It was taken at rest and just at home not doing anything strenuous

Were you active when your heart rate increased?

what health conditions do you have?

SnakesAndArrows · 23/05/2024 15:57

Sorry I missed half your post. Mine probably looks like that when I’m having a cleaning and gardening day. So it’s not usual for a sedentary day, but may not mean much.

@SeaToSki I have epilepsy, and I'm currently in the process of changing over medications. I was at home, pretty much at rest, not doing anything overly strenuous. I woke up at 8ish.

Without the benefit of knowing what you’re using to record the HR, it looks like there’s just a lot of movement artefact from about the time you woke up.

ANNOYingacrazyWorld · 23/05/2024 16:07

Thank you @Greybeardy I'm probably over thinking it. This was another one and the spike was just simultaneously with waking up, nothing strenuous. I felt bit unwell as i woke. The rest of the day I was active.

I forgot to say, this shows only the changes in my heart rate at the times they occur.

Lottelenya · 23/05/2024 16:42

That just looks like artefact. Or poor application of electrodes. It doesn’t actually look like a rhythm.

TraitorsGate · 23/05/2024 16:46

It's probably just you moving around, how is it being recorded, what sort of device

ANNOYingacrazyWorld · 23/05/2024 16:49

Thank you @Lottelenya I suffer from seizures in my sleep, and on waking. I have felt better since titration up to maximum dose of Brivaracetam. However, since withdrawing from Lamotrigine I'm having some side effects tremors etc. I was worried my heart rate was connected, and hoping there is no seizure activity, however mild.

It's normal for your heart to vary throughout the day

It's alternating between what looks about 60-90 with the odd around 100 which would be normal for a day of pottering about,

It's hours plotted again bpm. It's not showing rhythm at all, its not an ecg

ANNOYingacrazyWorld · 23/05/2024 16:56

Thank you @FiveTreeHill the first spikes on both days were happening as I woke from sleep. I felt unwell and was concerned it was linked to seizure activity. I'm on the full dose of my new med, and tapering off my other one. My neurologist said if it causes an increase in fits, we would change our plan. I don't want to look like an idiot incase it is totally unrelated. I have been unwell.but me and dh are thinking it could just be side effects from the withdrawal.

Your heart rate will naturally increase as you wake up - your body is going from rest to an awake/lets be doing things/functioning state.

Entirely normal.

As FiveTreeHill said, it's not an ecg so no one can tell you the rhythm.

If you have concerns over it your GP can refer you for a 24 hour ECG/monitoring, however there is nothing specifically jumping out as a concern from the hours vs hr you've posted.

ANNOYingacrazyWorld · 23/05/2024 17:07

It's probably unrelated, I think I'm being paranoid.

@tiredvendorbattybuyer thank you so much. You have made me feel better, I think I'm fixating on it. Thank you to everybody for looking at my pics, and taking the time to reply as well.

if you think you're having seizures that are outside your normal pattern then you need to go back to your neurologist and get their advice. The HR you watch (presumably) is picking up is neither here nor there - that reading cannot differentiate between normal movement/seizure activity (they're pretty useless at picking up an accurate heart rate too).

I'd 2nd tiredvendorbattybuyer those monitors easily give false readings even machines in hospital do this.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you @Sickoffamilydrama I feel better knowing I'm overthinking things!

Thanks everyone for your time taken to read this.
