Pile cream works overnight but then they just swell up again - keep going?

NC for obvious reasons!

I am pregnant and due to having to take progesterone pessaries rectally for four months, I now have two external swollen blood vessels which are essentially like large exterior lumps.

I am using Anusol HC ointment and overnight it’s marvellous, the blood vessels really shrink down, great stuff. But unfortunately by the end of the day, they’re back.

Am I doomed to have these forever? (Please say no…)

The anusol pressures are great too. If they don't interfere with your others they might work?

I'm sorry to say that since DC1 caused me to suffer (12 years ago) I think once the weakness is there they'll alway be ready to reappear.

I'm grateful mine are (from what I gather) very mild but if I get constipated or an upset stomach they'll give me discomfort for a while. So I always keep cream and pessaries in the medicine cabinet.

I'm not sure there's a (non surgical) cure. More dealing with the issue when they flare up. Mine are easy to cope with and rarely cause me issues so not worth me seeking further medical help in my opinion.

*pessaries (not pressures. You don't want any extra pressures BlushGrin)

Pile cream unfortunately doesn't get rid of piles, once you have them they are there for good.

However they are not necessarily a problem the whole of your life - once you have your baby they will be a whole lot better and you may not even notice them.

How often are you using the cream? It should be 2 to 4 times a day.
Do you manage to have a lie down during the day?
Gravity is a factor in prolapsed piles.
They do improve after the birth.
Avoiding constipation is important. I ate so many prunes when pregnant.
I imagine the progesterone makes things worse. It sounds awful.

Scheriproct from the GP. Sorted mine out in no time at all, and if there’s any hint of them returning it only takes an application or two and they go.

Brilliant stuff! I just asked for it off the Dr and he was happy to prescribe.

I’d love this, but I contacted my GP on the app, I explained the history, and they said I had to book an in person appointment, 2-3 weeks away!

Ah no, I’m not lying down in the day, I work in the community so it’s driving from place to place, it’s been quite hectic recently. I also have only been using it once at night and once in the morning for the same reason.

Do you think if I contacted the GP on the app again and asked for Scheriproct they could give it to me? I’m pregnant with a pile, surely they don’t need to take a look, it’s not uncommon?!

Personally, if they were causing me that much bother then I’d just arrange a private GP appt and get it that way.

But then, I’m a huge advocate for using a private GP service when possible, anyway. Google tells me Scheriproct can be used after the first trimester.
