Help me know what to do next

For 6 weeks I've been having episodes of really low heart rate. Dipping into the 30s, but for literally a few seconds at a time. I've seen this both on my pulse oximeter and my smart phone heart rhythm monitor so I know it's not one faulty device.

When it happens my hands (and sometimes all of me) feels very very cold.

I had an episode of it last week and I felt very sweaty afterwards. I also felt a very very slight chest discomfort.

At this point I started to worry. I went to A and E and they said my Troponin levels were very slightly raised and they couldn't rule out a small heart attack

48 hours of ekg monitoring, and an ECG and they discharged me saying they don't think I did and they think the increased enzymes have been caused by high blood pressure. Been sent home with lots of meds.

They didn't mention any episodes of low heart rate showing up. But sure as anything now I'm home I'm seeing the dips into 40 again and the cold clammy hands.

I felt so relieved being discharged but I have no idea what to do next. I can't believe it didn't show up on their EKG as I'm seeing it daily again and quite frankly I'm frightened that's what caused the raised enzymes that show heart distress and its still happening. I will speak to my GP, but any advice to help me be calm about this would really assure me right now.

I also have a cardiologist referral for June where they will hopefully give me a 7 day event recorder but I am terrified in the meantime something more awful is going to happen.

sats probes are a bit rubbish if you have cold hands - the numbers are often nonsense. Depending on what the app is measuring it may be the same. If you're unwell though then speak to a real life HCP.

My 20 yr old daughter has been experiencing the same symptoms. Low heart rate (30s-50), low blood pressure, (as low as 88/46 with 46 bpm) tingling feelings in arms & legs & at times numbness as if her limbs don't even exist , chest pains, followed with severe fatigue & quite spaced out, slurred words.

Yet ecg shows nothing abnormal, although she gets these episodes intermittently, no rhyme or reason & as the years has passed more frequent. Typically whenever seen in A&E or GP these numbers change to reflect normal (her readings vary constantly throughout the day/night) & the dips don't last long, yet they are dipping. Her symptoms will trigger us to check her readings to explain the symptoms if that makes sense!

However, neurologist rules out epilepsy & cardiologist ruled out POTS & chronic fatigue. He listened to her heart & stated no abnormal signs.

He has asked GP to look into 'functional disorder' which I appear to think he appears to assume it's psychological 🤯😫🤷🏽‍♀️🤔 (aka all in her head!)

I fear they are fobbing her off due to age & putting it down to anxiety!! However, I'm concerned they are not treating her fairly due to her age!

I would much preferred & felt more reassured if they did a scan of her heart & included a heart/blood pressure monitor to definitely rule out physical concerns.

Surely if it was anxiety her heart rate would increase more than 40-53 bpm????

I'm confused.com she had had glandular & scarlet fever & 9 ear perforations as a child?? But no other injuries or infections

Keep off caffeine and alcohol.
Have you has Covid or pneumonia recently, both these can cause atrial fibrillation.

Just to update. My DD 20yrs old, doesn't drink caffeinated drinks, only water & occasional squash/cordial. She has never smoked or dabbled in drugs (thankfully). She is a healthy weight & apart from episodes of fatigue, she gets plenty of sleep & generalised exercise. (Walking/horse riding)

She has had a positive Covid test but thankfully only experienced mild head/cold symptoms, which was more recent and after these symptoms had already started.

In the last 8-10 weeks she decided to revert back to eating meat! She felt her symptoms coincided with becoming vegetarian. 🤔 & since her change to her diet, her symptoms appear less frequent 🤔🤷🏽‍♀️

I have her booked in for a charity based heart test in September (CRY- charity part of heart foundation set up by families who has lost sadly children/young adults to undiagnosed heart conditions ) they scan young people within different parts of the country) hoping they can rule out heart conditions causing symptoms)
