Is it Ramipril? That is well known for giving a tickly cough.

It is irritating though. If it is a major problem you could ask for them to prescribe an alternative for you?

Crumpetdisappointment · 20/05/2024 07:44

Amlodipine as well as perindopril, perhaps the perindopril is the culprit

Maybe it could be that? Sounds like it's maybe a similar type of drug as they both end in 'pril'? (what do I know lol). I have the annoying tickly cough which has gone on for months like you. If the cough is just tickly and not bringing anything up (sorry!) it likely is that, but if you are worried I think they can do a check.

I am also on Amlodopine and pretty sure that's not the culprit . I have discussed with my practice pharmacist at my last review and agreed to carry on with the Ramipril for now as I can deal with the cough, and the benefits outweigh the negatives we decided. It just is annoying as it happens more when lying down trying to sleep, so I am also taking a lot of Strepsils which is probably not great, although I've got the sugar free ones.

Try eating marshmallows before bed 😬 it really works for some reason 🫣

Pemba · 20/05/2024 09:42

Oh, I wonder why? But can you clean your teeth afterwards or not?

Got to be worth a try though!

TheCoolOliveBalonz · 20/05/2024 09:43

Crumpetdisappointment · 20/05/2024 09:44

Might be different for adults but when my child had a tickle cough, worse on a night they gave him an inhaler

Summertimer · 20/05/2024 09:59

Doesn’t sound like 100 day cough. I’m halfway through it. It’s a productive cough and the whooping is more of judder. The DH has it too.

You’d probably know if you had what I have. Hope you find the answers whatever it is 💕

I believe you can and it still works, the gelatin coats your throat so just don't drink too much water after brushing your teeth

thank you, i have an inhaler, i did check with my asthma nurse and she said it wasnt asthma, this was some months ago and cough still persists. waiting to hear back from GP, hoping just a change in medication might cure it

I'm struggling with a similar thing, though currently it is because of a cold; I think the previous one was hayfever-related, and the one before that I put down to post-nasal drip. Could that be yours?

Crumpetdisappointment · 20/05/2024 12:04

it could be @Batlady78
