Stomach cramps initially severe and not intermittent

I'm close to 65
Last week, Tuesday, had massive stomach cramps like nothing before.
Then about 20 mins later went to the loo for a number 2.
Pain decreased a little but on bed and my OH rubbed my stomach and about an hour later 90% of the pain/cramp gone and by next day it had all gone
I did feel a bit bloated around that time

I take Fybogel x 2 daily for years as well as omeprazole for years and statins
I'm otherwise look healthy, slim and able to walk a mile every day for exercise

Then a couple of days later I got a slight crampy feeling and it goes oawa

The initial cramps last week - Two days earlier I started taking 10ml of 7 Seas cod liver oil and put it down to that and have not taken it since

I had a camera down my throat about 12 weeks ago all was good - no biopsies etc

Any ideas will be of help.

Where abouts is the pain? I started getting severe stomach cramps mostly lower left, about 10 years ago,my then GP said it was diverticulitis, I was 63. I used to yell with the pain and do labour breathing. It hurts like hell when I opened my bowels (yellow, mucus) then slightly eased off..a couple of things a little fresh blood. He said to take co-codamol. I was worried about constipation,he said get the pain sorted, worry about constipation later. Why have you been taking fybogel for 2 years? Omeprazole for years, assuming you have reflux or a hiatus hernia? I got a really bad attack last summer, could get GP appointment, when I finally did, wrongly diagnosed with UTI. I knew it wasn't that, then after 12 days of solid pain, laying on the sofa with my knees bent, painkillers not helping, I went to the local ED. I was examined by a lovely Dr. Who arranged a CT with contrast. Findings: hiatus hernia (that explains the reflux) something called Paniculitus, and mesenteric fat stranding, caused by multiple abdominal surgeries. I don't in fact have diverticulitis, but Diverticulosis. The treatment is steroids, but it thankfully resolved on its own. Have you ever had a colonoscopy, I have and a sigmoidoscopy...all NAD!

Could be a bug. Just keep an eye on it. I've a 5cm sliding hiatus hernia and have weaned myself off omeprazole recently. I'm no worse for it.

@Nannyfannybanny
thanks for that - no hiatus hernia etc - severe acid reflux for years

colposcopy years ago - but had a FIT test a few months ago all ok, this was the two year test

I will see gp later in the week as Mondays are very busy at the surgery

Re divetiultis, my OH has it, pain is not that and that radiates to the gotin and left leg I'm advised

I was diagnosed about 10 years ago with "silent reflux", which is completely different to acid reflux. I didn't want to take meds regularly, I bought a book by an American Gastroenterologist, happy to add details. No, I am not affiliated with him in any way. It's basically field and farm (and sea) nothing processed, nothing refined, nothing with a PH lower than 5. Was it Einstein who said "better to have good gut than good brain". I've never heard of diverticulitis causing leg pain. I'm sure you know what it is.... pockets in the diverticular. Years ago people were told not to eat seeds or nuts because they could get stuck,I had Diverticulosis, which of course is inflammation. By this point,my stomach area hurts from my ribs to my pubic area. Let us know how you get on.

You put you had a colposcopy....that's cervix and uterus
