Please tell me how you got rid of yours. It's really doing a number on my mental health.

Ok, so this is niche, but Thyme Out from Victoria Health worked for me. I soaked cotton wool balls with it and slotted between the offending toes. I found that with otc products the AF kept coming back, but this has worked. And incidentally it’s amazing for all kinds of stuff, so if you can get past the fact it smells like a roast chicken dinner, it’s great!! Keep going for a day or two after it’s all healed, just to be sure.

Foot health specialist here.. Lamisil Once is your answer. None of the other lamisil products just the “once” product, tis brilliant.

Tallerandtall · 18/05/2024 18:47

@spiderplantmum

i agree with lamisil once but use it for a while if it’s back.

BoundaryGirl3939 · 18/05/2024 18:47

Sudocrem. Honestly.

HousedInMySoul · 18/05/2024 18:55

I'm applying surgical spirit at the moment and it seems to be working 🤞

Shellingbynight · 18/05/2024 19:00

Canesten Bifanazole Once Daily.
I've had athlete's foot twice and it worked perfectly.
You do have to persevere and use it for about 3 weeks, don't stop earlier because it feels better and you CBA to do it.

Lamisil Once.

TooManyNiblings · 18/05/2024 19:04

You do need to consider if you are reinfecting yourself. Good wash of socks, shoes, bedding, towels in a timely manner- consider new if non-washable.

twoandcooplease · 18/05/2024 19:08

So many different things advised already

I suffer with it bad. The warm weather is making it worse. Reading online it says the shoes you wear while suffering with AF should be replaced once it's under control
Expensive treatment that I've not been able to afford yet but for the time being I'm wearing flip flops, cleaning my feet regularly if I'm at home and applying Dakaratin

Daktarin Gold - behind the counter at the pharmacist's. Apply at first tingle.

Wash feet and between toes with bar soap every day. Dry thoroughly - no socks or closed shoes until feet/between toes are bone dry.

Don't wear the same closed shoes every day, have at least two pairs so you alternate. Leave the worn pair out to dry/air. (I don't bother with this with sandals.)

AnnaMagnani · 18/05/2024 19:27

Another vote for Daktarin Gold. Or any cream marketed as a one off treatment that is locked away by the pharmacist.

TuesdayWhistler · 18/05/2024 19:30

Canestan Athletes Foot got rid of mine.

Wash properly not replace!!!
As hot and as long as the materials can take. Towels can mostly be boiled, not the common 30°C, 15 minute washes. You need to kill the fungus and destroy the spores.

Gingernaut · 18/05/2024 19:38

Try everything together

Wash and dry your feet thoroughly, use a separate facecloth for your feet and put it in the wash

Lamisil Once (Terbinafine)
Tolnaftate spray for feet and shoes - Scholl or Boots do one
Daktarin (Miconazole) spray for your feet and shoes
Canestan (Bifonazole)
Canestan (Clotrimazole)

I have hyperhidrosis and if I don't attack both shoes and feet together, the fungus flourishes

It's shit

ducktape · 19/05/2024 08:35

I have constant battles with foot fungus in the warmer months. Lamisil will quickly cure an outbreak for me, but a couple of of drops of tea tree oil around the toes after a shower also works well to keep it from coming back. I find that if I forget to do the tea tree for a couple of days and wear the wrong pair of shoes, it's back with a vengeance. Tea tree is a good bit cheaper than Lamisil

@spiderplantmum

i agree with lamisil once but use it for a while if it’s back.

You can only treat with lamisil once, every six months. It is a one treatment hit.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 19/05/2024 14:11

BoundaryGirl3939 · 18/05/2024 18:47

Sudocrem. Honestly.

Perfect moist environment for fungus to thrive! 😂

iPreferBooks · 19/05/2024 15:23

Had it a while ago. Pharmacist gave me Daktarin Aktiv which worked really well. Germolene also helped itching as well.
