Hives or virus?

I started getting intensely itchy spots all arms, legs, top of hands, heels, top of feet, face and tip of my nose a couple
of days ago. Started on my buttocks which was weird! New crops keep appearing and it's fairly symmetrical, eg a crop either side of my shoulders.

This morning my tongue is swollen and painful with similar sores that feel like they're inside it. Anti histamines calm the itching a little bit. They're small round and raised. Feel just like little midge bites apart from tongue which is painful.

The tongue thing seems to be quite regular- I'm at the point of mentioning to gp. I have recently had a hypothyroid blip but raised thyroxine and feeling much better apart from my tongue. I seem to get regular bouts of ulcers. I rarely feel like I can taste as well as I used to either.

I had similar but much less intense about a month or so after having covid the first time but they went more quickly. Any other ideas??

If hives I've no clue as to what I'm reacting to.

I'm on tamoxifen and periods seem to be stopping. So there's peri menopause going on too!

When I've had hives they are mode like raised patches that itch rather than spots. My dd had a reaction to medication but that looked more like eczema. I wonder if you might have something like hand foot and mouth?

I think issues with your tongue can be linked to iron levels.

Thanks I am now wondering about hf and m. Though the sores are usually on hand plans and soles of feet

There has been a virus going around that is giving urticaria My daughter has had it. After she seemed to get better she suddenly came out in a massive bout of urticaria.

It think it must be something like that, I'm not usually a reactive person.

What was the time between illness and the urticaria?

The weird thing is that I am the only one who isn't catching anything at the moment though husband and both kids are trailing one cold virus after another. Which means I could have had it I suppose with no symptoms. They were all quite ill last week with something

(I'm trying to work out if the I need to see Gp about the tongue thing or it's just viruses!)

They prescribed antihistamine for my daughter that you can buy over the counter. They recommended piriton for an acute attack of itching and a one a day loritadine taken in the morning to take it away.

That is interesting. I have been feeling under the weather (tired, achy, slight sore throat) for 2 weeks followed by hives on my arms. I had assumed they were caused by the sunlight rather than a virus.

Our GP said they had seen quite a few people with this recently. So obviously is part of a bug. I hope it clears soon for you. Its a miserable thing to have.
