my poor six month old dd has terrible chicken pox. had to hold her for two hours solid tonight. she still needs me to hold her, but i've just dashed onto here for any ideas on how to help her.

poor love is in real discomfort. i've had a mare trying to keep her temp down, even with calpol and calpofren.

anyone suggest anything to make her feel better? poor thing, can hear her crying now - just legged it on here for support. anything i can give her at all?

You could try an antihistamine like piriton it will help soothe the itching and help her to sleep too.

Poor thing hope she feels better soon.

piriton is for over 1's so couldnt be used on a 6 month old - sorry!! Do you have medised/calpol night, etc as they contain a mild anti-histamine?

my baby got this when she was very wee too, it wasn't much fun! I fed her a lot - seemed to help when she woke up itchy/uncomfortable. I put bicarbonate of soda and calamine lotion into the bath water to help and also used some aqueous and calamine cream on her skin afterwards (it is much easier to deal with than calamine lotion) and agree with the last poster that a bit of medised helped when things got really rough. I think that the cream was what really made the difference though, didn't even know it existed - the pharmacist told me about it.

GP can prescribe piriton off license if indicated, tends to work much better than other antihistamines if there is a lots of itching or discomfort.

Ring your GP for advice

Many thanks for responding. The spots are just sprouting out! Poor little thing. Hopefully, she should feel better by tomorrow. I've got calamine and some tea tree anticeptic. It's an awful thing for them to go through. i keep thinking, better now than later though.
