Enlarged bile duct and Endoscopic Surgery

I ended up in hospital with a dilated bile duct, pain in my upper abdomen, vomiting and passing out.

They did a CT, ultrasound and mri. Found the dilated bile duct but absolutely no stones, they're doing an EUS (endoscopic surgery) and I'm petrified. Anyone else had this?

Just an update

I'm having my EUS tomorrow and I'm really scared for it. Anyone had it?

Worried for the results

I hope it went well and good luck with the results. I think it's one of those ones where they need to have a look at it to see what's wrong with it (my mum had a lot of liver issues).

They ended up moving my procedure to Monday so I'm in till then now :/

Oh poor you how miserable. How are you feeling?

AC20218 · 19/05/2024 22:05

I got moved to a different ward, been at hospital for 10 days now

Having my EUS tomorrow, really nervous for it. Feeling on edge tonight because I've been given Tramadol for the last 4 ish days not knowing yku should have it with sertraline :/

It's put me on edge cos I have muscle spasms in my legs but the doctor said I should be okay as long as I don't become confused, feverish and a few other symptoms

Sending best wishes for tomorrow OP.

Haven't had this, but wishing you the best for tomorrow. Is it serotonin syndrome you're worried about with the drugs? It's rare, and I should think a few days won't be enough to make a difference. You're in the best place to be monitored, so just get what sleep you can, it'll soon be over! 🙂

I’ve had a few of these procedures and they’re OK. My advice is to accept any sedation on offer, don’t be brave!

Sawitch · 19/05/2024 22:26

Sorry, posted too soon! I think we tend to say ‘I’ll be OK, don’t worry about sedation’. However in my experience the sedation helps you to relax and you won’t have much recall of the procedure afterwards.
I hope it all goes well for you.

@AC20218 any update ? how are things?

AC20218 · 13/02/2025 13:06

They never found out what was wrong with me, I'm okay now though, they said it could've been a stone stuck and that if it happens again to get in touch with GP
