Does this sound like MS?

I’ve been having some weird issues with my right arm and leg for the last 5 weeks and have an upcoming neurology appointment to discuss. In the meantime does any of this sound concerning?

Intermittant right calf cramping and pins and needles throughout right leg including foot. This comes and goes and the pins and needles also sometimes present in left foot. My lower right leg also feels stiff and heavy a lot of the time. Right arm has now joined the party and I’ve had some pins and needles with cramping in my fingers. No noticeable weakness at all in any limb but my leg certainly feels sort of weak and dead. But no loss of actual sensation or numbness.

For past few months have had some facial tingling around my lips and have been exhausted.

GP did battery of tests to rule out vitamin and mineral deficiencies, thyroid etc and even FSH and LH. All normal as were CRP and ESR (inflammatory markers)

Whats this all about? I’m not massively anxious although has been an incredibly stressful year. Thanks 🙂

Oh and worth mentioning my joints have been quite sore for the last month but I do have hypermobility syndrome so always put it down to that! I’m 39 and female.

Right sided pins and needles/heaviness/numbness for me is part of my migraine presentation. First time it happened it lasted weeks before eventually easing off.

Hope you get some answers from neurology and you don't have to wait too long Flowers

@ArmchairPhycologist oh how interesting. I’ve never suffered from migraines and have no headache so not sure if it would fit?

I had all of this (identical symptoms) and more post covid and post vaccine- for months and months- mine actually started with a weird buzzing around my top lip- I thought I was having a stroke!! The only thing you haven't mentioned that I had was a weird heady disconnected feeling and sore eyes on and off. I've had multiple bloods, saws neuro etc- I havent had an MRI though but in all honesty it has declined a lot in last 5 months- started sept 2022. It has left me with a gluten intolerance , and arthritis in my neck on and off along with cervical headaches- but all very intermittent now -

@TinglyandCurious How are you now? Did you have your scan and did you get to the bottom of this?

TinglyandCurious · 01/10/2024 21:04

@Lollyl88 I’m very well thanks. All my symptoms resolved a few months ago. My brain and lumbar spine MRIs were clear. Physio thought I’d trapped a nerve in my hip which caused all the twitching and cramping. Such a relief. All back to normal now 🙂

@TinglyandCurious that's great news! Was your tingling intermittent or was it present all the time? And for how long did it take the nerve to shift? I'm seeing a physio in 2 weeks myself!

TinglyandCurious · 02/10/2024 07:06

@Lollyl88 good luck! It’s such a pain isn’t it. My tingling was intermittent but at one point there the majority of the day. The neuro consultant said my GP thought it might be MS too which was validating but actually obviously a relief all round it wasn’t. Neuro wasn’t at all concerned even prior to the scans. Hope yours improves soon!

@TinglyandCurious thanks so much. Yes it's infuriating. Interestingly it seems to be when I sit and disappears when I stand so I think I must have trapped something too. Do you think it's the physio that fixed it? I've got an appointment with physio in a couple of weeks

TinglyandCurious · 02/10/2024 18:05

@Lollyl88 yes that certainly sounds like a trapped nerve. The physio helped to an extent but I’d say it also naturally just improved. Good luck and try not to worry x
