Magnesium spray rather than tablets?
I heard bananas should help (potassium I think?) but no idea if that’s an old wives’ tale!

Regular stretching and yoga and a foam roller could help? I also use one of those spiky mats which were a lockdown fad - I don’t think it does anything really beneficial but makes me lie still for 20mins before going to bed and properly relax my muscles!

Targeting a super hot shower spray onto the affected area works for me in the night.

But I'd rather not have to solve the problem tbh.

So if anyone has preventative ideas, I'd love them Flowers

ready salted crisps?

Eviebeans · 11/05/2024 19:58

I rub magnesium cream into my feet every night
also find that tonic water helps

I find if I don’t drink enough water the night before I’m more prone to cramps.

Not a cure but the leg cramps I used to get in the night were the result of sleeping with a fan pointing at me. It causes the muscle to contract

thanks all

will try a salty snack or isotonic drink before bed for a week to see if that makes a difference.

Home bargains do a magnesium spray for muscles. It's excellent for restless legs. Spray a load on your feet, rub it in and it'll settle enough for you to sleep.

Try a glass of tonic water, it has quinine in which is great for cramps. You could even put a bit of gin in there too 😉

What magnesium did you try?
I found the supermarket ones were crap - magnesium oxide.
I switched to magnesium glycinate from amazon which is high strength and it's really helped my restless legs.

Can you try one of those runners soluble tablets to replenish your electrolytes?

Magnesium lotion or spray plus warm bed socks (Heat keeper style) all year round.

There’s an old wives tale about using the end of a bar of soap under the sheets in the foot area, no idea why that would work but my mother swears by it.
