Slapped cheek in adults

Hi everyone,

Has anyone had slapped cheek as an adult? I know I don't have antibodies as they found this out whilst I was pregnant (I'm not anymore).

My 4 year old came out in a rash around ten days ago, lasted just under a week. Bright pink cheeks, rash on body, but absolutely fine in himself. I have a runny nose but apart from that, I'm ok. I've just discovered a rash on my arms, and my face is red / pink and hot.

I've heard having slapped cheek as an adult is awful...did anyone have it and felt fairly ok? We're going on holiday on Monday. Now the rash has appeared, does that mean symptoms won't get worse?

Thanks all

Yes I had it a few years ago. It was so weird… I generally felt ok but my worst symptom was rheumatoid arthritis. My joints (especially fingers) swelled up noticeably. I took ibuprofen, drank loads of water and rested and eventually it went away online own. Hope you recover very quickly. Get an early night if possible.

@Passmetheaero it’s not confirmed I had it, I was told “viral infection” however my son got slapped cheek the following week and I had exact same symptoms as you. This was mid April and only now are my fingers less swollen!!

I caught it when my DC were young, just felt unwell for a couple of days nothing more.

I've recently had SC and got a full body itchy rash followed by various severe joint pains - GP diagnosed it S reactive arthritis although it's definitely beginning to settle now after 2.5 weeks - some people seem to get through it relatively unscathed though, fingers crossed you do!
