Anyone experience with gepant for migraine?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with taking a gepant for migraine prevention? I've tried other preventatives which have either worked well but the side effects were too much or they haven't had any effect on the migraines. I particularly struggle with migraine dizziness and I'd love to find something that works to make this less frequent! Got the option now for gepants or the anti cgrp injections - anyone have any experience?

I went on the minipill Cerelle and it was a game changer for me. Went from 3 migraines a week to none at all for 6 years.
I kept a migraine diary and noticed that there were monthly clusters in frequency which made me think that it was hormonal, used to get a lot going through puberty and then got more approaching menopause.

I've not had gepants yet, but I'm currently on the higher dose Aimovig CGRP jab and was previously on Ajovy.

Life changing for me. I have gone from 28 days a month of migraine to 5-10 max.

Instead of taking to bed for 50% of attacks it's more like once every couple of months because the severity of the attacks is so greatly reduced. I don't need triptans for every attack, but I also no longer need to ration them.

I used to have hemiplegic attacks quite frequently, and I think I've had approx one a year since starting on CGRPs.

I don't really have side effects that are an issue - apparently constipation is common, but I have IBS(D) and it's actually really evened out my gut which is a huge bonus for me!

I do get skin reactions at the injection sites but have worked out how to minimise that now, and it's much better - alcohol wipes to clean the area then inject, then clean again, then slather with hydrocortisone cream. I also inject just before bed so the leg is less active immediately afterwards which also helps.

The injections do sting like fuck, but it takes about 15s from the start of the injection to that fading completely. I don't like them, but it's once every 4wks on Aimovig or once per calendar month on Ajovy.

Ajovy has been a game changer for my DD ….previously tried acupuncture, Botox , preventatives …the works….. just has yearly follow ups with neurology now …… still has a migraine around every 2 to 3 months which lasts a few days but pain can be managed with sumatriptan injection
