Should I eat if I’m constantly vomiting?

I’m so so ill I wish I could voice note instead it type right now . My dd 6 months old has decided to pass on her lovely vomiting bug, I started throwing up around 6am and still haven’t stopped , not getting that long of breaks between being sick all while trying to look after dd who’s still not right as she’s only taking tiny bits of her bottle .
im bringing up bile because I haven’t eaten, do I continue not to eat until it settles or should I try ?

My advice would be eat nothing at all. Just sips of water until you feel better.

Smartiepants79 · 06/05/2024 12:44

Keep drinking water and then dry toast when you think it’s more settled.

Candleabra · 06/05/2024 12:45

Just water until it passes. Yuck. Hope you feel better soon.

Fireandflames · 06/05/2024 12:51

Water or flat coke/lemonade. It’s best to have something to bring up otherwise it’s damaging to your teeth, throat and stomach.

Mammma91 · 06/05/2024 12:54

I wouldn’t eat but could you get someone to bring you some lucozade for the sugar? I hope your better soon. There is nothing worse than vomiting whilst looking after a baby!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 06/05/2024 13:01

Lucozade, crackers/mini cheddars, little salty snacks and sugar are much easier to deal with - the sugar helps you with energy, the salt helps reduce dehydration, both reduce nausea from dehydration - and throwing up with a couple of mini cheddars is a lot less unpleasant than throwing up a slice of bread shortly after you've eaten it.

longdistanceclaraclara · 06/05/2024 13:04

I wouldn't eat apart from ice pops, and try fat coke.

Meadowfinch · 06/05/2024 13:05

Clear fluids until you have gone 24 hrs without being sick. Water or flat lemonade.

Then plain non-fatty carbs to start with, something very bland like plain digestives or a banana. When you can keep that down, move on to proper foods.

BeyondMyWits · 06/05/2024 13:05

No food for 24 hours, water and diluted squash are good, ice pops can help - cooling and hydrating, and sugary, and rehydration sachets/tablets you make up with water. No dairy.

When you do eat, small amounts of very plain food to start with.

Oneearringlost · 06/05/2024 13:16

Poor you!
Sip lemonade, full sugar, if you've got it, or can get someone to get it for you.
It's tastes easier coming up!.
Don't eat, it just stimulates the gut.
It'll probably be better by tonight, but you'll feel weak and crap, ( hence the need for sugar).
So grim, it'll get better though. Xx

Thanks everyone , I have not thrown up in over an hour 🤞🏻🤞🏻 longest I’ve been without being sick, but still feel tired and sick . I have flat coke in my fridge but I didn’t even think to try that? does it help nausea ? I’ve had like 3 sips of water and have managed to keep that down

Fresh orange juice always helps me small sips, don't know if it's placebo from being given it as a child but it works all the same for me.

Flatleak · 06/05/2024 13:58

Definitely drink as it makes throwing up more bearable than just bile.

Where is the baby's father in all this?
