Glass in foot for weeks, suddenly painful!

I trod on small piece of glass about a month ago & tbh completely forgot about it and have just been carrying on as normal. I’ve been running 12k a week and not felt anything! Just took dog for long walk, came back and it is so painful! I looked and can see glass embedded under skin and a sort of blister. It doesn’t look red or infected. Will I be ok waiting to see GP Tuesday? Obviously is a bank holiday so imagine A&E will be manic!

I had the same thing happen to me last year!
I had to dig it out with a needle/ tweezers cos it got to walk on it. ( obviously with antiseptic)
Hope yours gets better soon!

Glass is unfortunately the only foreign body that the body can't naturally rid itself of, I think it would be ok until Tuesday but if it was me I'd be trying to get it out with tweezers.

Do you have a large syringe to suck it out?

No syringe! I can try with tweezers but worried about pushing it further in or if I open skin it might get infected 😬 would GP be able to get it out?

Been there. My body eventually worked it to the surface after wrapping it up and I dug it out with tweezers for the last stretch. Was like a pad of tough skin. The relief was immense.

DH had a bit of wine glass in his finger for weeks after breaking a glass.

It was GP for X-ray, then to A+E, then to plastics clinic and finally removal by plastics.

Have attached a pic and tried to crop as much of my manky foot out as possible 😂

I'm not sure a GP will help. I used to work at a surgery and they used to send people to the walk-in centre because something like glass removal, however minor, is classed as a surgical procedure and they are not insured to carry it out
