What is the normal consistency of toddler poo?

Sorry if TMI - hopefully everyone has finished eating lunch! DS is 19 months and has always had quite sloppy poo (apart from a stage between about 4-8 months when he was quite badly constipated). Lately they've become so sloppy they leak out of his nappy. Just wondering what the normal is, should they be like adult poo. If so, what should I feed DS to get his more solid? We're vegetarian and he eats more or less the same as us, so lots of fruit, veg, pulses, bread, cereal, dairy, etc - I suppose most of that food has a lot of fibre in so could make his poos more runny (although ours are fine!). Should I worry, he seems quite happy otherwise.

We're veggie too. Ds's poo is kind of like cake mixture - rather runny. I think this is normal from discussions with my friends!

Don't know if you've heard the phrase "toddler diarrhoea" but it's quite a common problem. Well, actually not a problem at all. It's just that some toddlers have really fast gut transit time so sometines what comes out one end is almost exactly what went in at the other. As far as I know it just settles with time.

I've not heard of toddler diarrhoea! That is kind of what its like, sometimes beans and things come out virtually whole! I hadn't thought too much about it until my mum looked after him the other day and sais I should take him to the doctor as he might get dehydrated if he has bad diarrhoea. Although its not as though its watery, just sloppy, probably a bit like cake mixture like you say!

Thanks, thats reassuring.
