Medical exemption certificate - have eligible conditions changed?

Be really grateful for any knowledgeable medical folks to give me an informed answer - am struggling to find answers online...

5 years ago I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and the GP said "this is crap news but the silver lining is you get free prescriptions now". He duly filled something in and the card dropped through my door a couple of weeks later.

He said it's because I need to take daily medication for the rest of my life.

Now the card is due to expire and I went to the GP's office to get a renewal form and you have to check the box for the qualifying medical condition and Hashi's isn't on there...? So I guess I'm not eligible anymore?

I just can't find out if the rules have changed since 2018, or if the initial certificate was granted in error...?

I feel really confused and slightly worried that I've done something wrong here.

If anyone can shed light I'd be really grateful. Flowers

My DD has hashi's and she has the card.

I think they list it as something else on the form

  • myxoedema (that is, hypothyroidism which needs thyroid hormone replacement)
The above is what they call it on the form.

Oh my goodness thank you wise ladies of MN! I would not have worked that out myself EVER (and I did ask at the GP surgery and they were clueless too!)

Was honestly just about to throw the form away when I thought I'd ask here... Hugely grateful all for the replies 💕
