Just wondering if anyone can read a blood test result.
DH is due to have surgery but the pre op has thrown up some worrying results and I'm wondering if these are enough to stop surgery going ahead?
Will post results if anyone can help

Phlebotomists generally take blood, and aren’t involved with interpretation. . A doctor or nurse practitioner will be able to interpret them.

Phlebotomists take your blood. You may want someone with more medical training if you're looking to understand the results. Really something you should discuss with your GP.

Yes, needs discussing with a GP.

Thank you. I'm worried sick that the op won't go ahead. We've waited months for this and thought we were on the home straight.
He has another blood test on Thursday, it's the anxiety that's caused by the waiting again that is grinding me down.
I'll just have to wait but fearing the worst now. Not sure how we will cope mentally if surgery is postponed 😢

His team (surgeon & anaesthetist) are the only people who can say whether whatever's amiss is enough to postpone surgery - whatever's wrong needs to be considered in the context of what the likely benefits of the operation are/consequences of postponing are and whether the perioperative risk of morbidity/mortality can be reduced by fixing the bloods. FWIW anaesthetists & surgeon's don't postpone surgery at short notice lightly so if they do advise deferring then it's worth listening to.

It may be helpful to reframe how you/he thinks about it if the surgery does need to be postponed - the bloods may have spotted a problem that might have just got worse without management and depending on the nature of the surgery/problem cracking on without fixing whatever's wrong with the bloods may cause more harm than good - he may be dodging a big bullet.

@Greybeardy thank you for your advice. It's just been such a terrible time since Xmas. I'm really hoping that these results are nothing to worry about but of course, the surgeons advice is paramount. We will have to deal with it somehow if the worst happens

What results are you worried about Op? If you are happy to post someone might be able to advise temporarily to ease your anxiety.

@SandysMam thank you. I'll post the results. He's due to have prostate surgery in two weeks.

Blood results. It's the raised ones we are concerned about.
Bloods that were taken in Feb did not show that these were raised, so it's recent.
Hoping it's down to dehydration???
