Pulsatile tinnitus

Sunshine1996 · 23/04/2024 06:44

I’ve had a heart beat like sound in both ears for I’d say around a month now. I haven’t really paid that much thought to it as it’s painless. This morning it happened again so I googled and came up with pulsatile tinnitus which describes my exact symptoms.
Going to contact the GP today as was a bit scared reading some of the causes. I don’t think it’s high blood pressure related as generally mine is always on the low side. Does anyone else have any experience with this and what was the cause?

Mine started after my first covid vaccine

I had lots of tests, all were fine, so I just live with it

Its incredibly annoying

I had this in my second pregnancy caused by severe anaemia

Sunnnybunny72 · 23/04/2024 07:12

I've had it two years. I can hear it now, tell you my heart rate at any given time just by listening.
MRI clear (except for incidental pituitary cyst). NHS audiology said mild hearing loss, private said all ok.
I just live with it, day in day out.

I get it from time to time if I’m stressed. After a few weeks it just disappears. The longest I’ve had it for was a couple of months.

Mine is one sided and caused by a heart murmur

I've had it for about 18 months ever since my 2nd round of Covid. Only have it when I lie down though and can hear my heartbeat in my ears. I've not had tests but I mentioned it to my GP and he wasn't concerned.

If you read about it online, you'll read some very scary things but it also sounds like it's quite common and also seems in some cases to be linked to Covid.

I have this from time to time, it was constant for months so doctor sent me for a MRI years ago which came back clear and put it down to anxiety, I notice when I am stressed it gets loud again but day to day I don't notice it anymore!

I get this too, worse in one ear than the other but usually both. I saw my GP who checked my ears, was sent for a 24hrs ECG which was fine and was given a blood test to check for anemia (fine) and blood pressure checked (fine), after that I was told to just live with it.
I've always had problems with my ears, swimmers ear infections, burst ear drums, excess wax, so I just try to keep them out of water and use olive oil in them for the wax, it kind of keeps it at bay. I find if I'm anxious and my heart rate is faster it does get worse so I think stress plays a part too.
