Feeling run down

I posted this in breast feeding as well.

DD is 7 months old. I excl bf till 6 months and in the last month have been doing some BLW. DD is thriving.

I'm really run down though. Exhausted most of the time and with various lingering low-grade colds and infections. I've never been as ill in my life, catching bugs and just generally worn out. I'm sure some of this is part and parcel of being a new mum though!

I eat 5 a day, minimum.
I go for a brisk walk every day.
I take multivitamins and a probiotic, and eat live natural yoghurt.
I go to bed early, where possible.
I drink tons of water.
I eat a varied diet.

Surely I don't have to give up my one daily coffee and two glasses of wine a week!

Any other tips?

I get no help at all with DD except obviously DH on weekends (Mon-Fri he only sees her at breakfast time). I'm a SAHM. Our families are far away and don't visit.

I don't know if I can do anything to improve my general health so I'd appreciate any tips. I wonder how I would cope with a second baby, at this rate!

You could be aneamic - well worth getting it checked out.

Are you losing weight? You might need to up your calorie intake to balance out the bfing.

Get a general check up with doctor and or practice nure. Get your thyroid checked too. That said I was ill on and off a lot when my two were under one, I still get more colds and coughs than average from having kids around and at nursery/pre school (they're 2 and 4). My immune system did buck up slightly when I stopped bf'ing although I did bf for a year with both, so of course wouldn't advocate giving up just for this reason (before I get shot down!).
You sound like your taking carae of yourself as much as you can! Get DH to help you have a proper break at weekends (take the baby out so you can rest) if you can arrange this.
Good Luck and I promise it gets soooooo much easier!!
Ps DON'T give up your little pleasures!!

I am losing weight, yes, I'm lighter than pre-pregnancy. I feel as if I eat non-stop because BF makes me so hungry. I'll see if I feel any better after two weeks holiday with DH to help me with DD. If not I'll see my GP. Thanks.
