Hi, I've posted on this before but am getting quite worried now. I've had horrible painful ulcers flare up on my tingue 4 times since december 07. At first I put them down to a "stand alone" thing ie that they weren't as a result of anything else.

Now I'm worried they're the sign of something more sinister. Have never had them before december 07, please be honest with me, GP fobs me off need some evidence to throw at her!

I get them when streswsed.

avenanap · 30/03/2008 23:16

A sharp tooth can cause these. Have you been to see your dentist?

peacelily · 30/03/2008 23:16

But I've been stressed a lot throughout my life and never had anything like these! I'm worried I've got some sort of liver/digestive disorder.

Immune problems - lack of zinc?

Are you taking any supplements?

kikid · 30/03/2008 23:18

I used to get these before my period, also when run down.

3littlefrogs · 30/03/2008 23:18

Do you have any other symptoms? Anything at all?

Is your mouth dry?

Have you seen your dentist? IMO dentists are much better at things to do with the mouth than some GPs.

No, it's definitely not teeth, they're all over the tip of my tongue, inflamed red lumps that go white and patchy. They make food/drink taste funny too and always get worse in the evening.

maybe immune system I'm veggie so possible lacking certain minerals although I'm good with my diet and this has never been a problem before.

If you haven't already, definitely see your dentist. It is best to go when you have actually got them, obviously.

Haven't got a dnetist haven't been for years.

Have a friend who's a dentist so will go and see him this week, have them at the mo so will be able to get an opinion.

DH used to have terrible problems with ulcers, including on his tongue.

He tried loads of things, but a few months ago completely cut out caffeine and the problem seems to have gone.

Hope you find out what is causing yours. It sounds horrid

Bewilderbeast · 30/03/2008 23:24

it could be benign glossitis/geographic tongue, look it up on google and see if the blisters look the same. It's totally harmless apart from a bit of discomfort from time to time and your doc can give you a pain killing mouth wash to help with it

avenanap · 30/03/2008 23:25

I had a few ulcers after my dentist took a tooth out, I used corsodyl mouth wash and it got rid of them within a few days. You could try this?

3littlefrogs · 30/03/2008 23:25

Oraldene mouthwash is good for ulcers - it is antifungal as well as antibacterial and seems to encourage them to heal.

Go to the dentist and get them checked. Please
