mouth ulcers

ds1 (12) suffers horribly from mouth ulcers which I think are largely stress related (he had lots to be stressed about at the moment, poor love). He uses a gel to relieve the pain but does anyone have any 'cures' or ideas of things to prevent/lessen the outbreaks? He is miserable because of them

TIA

Oraldene mouthwash is good.

Extra vitamin c.

Don't eat boiled sweets.

Have a proper check up with GP and dentist to make sure everything else is ok.

Poor thing - they are horrible things to have.

thanks frogs - will get the mouthwash and extra vit C tabs.

Just found it. Yes SS same thing but Ds got it on prescription I had forgotten that. His says POM on box so don't know if it's same strength as you can buy otc. It is triamcinolone acetonide 0.1%.

oxocube · 30/03/2008 19:28

thanks all. I feel so sorry for him. We have just googled the Frador which looks good - TBH he will try anything

It's not a cure or a treatment but I find that I can help get rid of them faster by keeping my mouth scrupulously clean. Brush after each meal or where that isn't possible swill out the mouth with water and spit.

I don't know why it works but it does seem to help them heal up.

Poor thing - hope some of these help.
