I missed a call in the landline from the GP surgery and thought I’d better check my nhs App before I call back, as I have various health issues going on. I found half a letter from a cardiologist (as I had an ambulatory ECG in February) saying that there were some ectopic beats but the patient ‘should be seen and reassured’. I’ve had palpitations for many years and nothing has ever been picked up before on ambulatory ecg (think this was my third), I’ve even had a CT of heart a couple of years ago/echo, the lot!
The issue is I’m supposed to be having a hernia repair shortly and idk if this means I can’t have anaesthetic. I will do an E consult on Monday as my surgery said that’s the best thing to do, and then I have to have a pre-op test next week so will by then know more about it.
The mad thing is, the call was actually for DH as they obv couldn’t get him on the mobile!!

They do surgery on patients with ectopic beats all the time though.
You will be monitored as all patients undergoing anaesthetic are.
pre op will do the tests and give you more info.

they're really not going to postpone surgery for a few simple ectopics! (doi: anaesthetist)

Thanks! I will just make them aware in that case.
I’ll still do the E-consult on Monday anyway and hopefully it can all be clarified.
