How ironic. I suspect that my brother is about to be Sectioned.

He is in police custody at the moment, I highly doubt that he will go to hospital informally.

He is in a bad way.

Im devastated,

oh dear - i can't imagine how awful that would be.

Blandmum · 30/03/2008 09:29

THis must be awful for you, I'm so sorry. But you know that this means he will get the help that he needs and I cannot imagine anyone who would be a better (and informed!) advocate for him that you. He's lucky to have you.

hugs

harleyd · 30/03/2008 09:30

if he needs help it will be for the best

Nbg · 30/03/2008 09:31

Don't know whats happened TE but he will be safe there and get the treatment he needs.

tiredemma · 30/03/2008 09:41

I still dont really know what happened, im getting dribs and drabs of information. I told him to go to his GP about two weeks ago as he didnt see 'quite right' and was being quite morbid, talking about suicide, very emotional.
He has many, many issues- so many issues.
He was taken into custody this mrning about 5am, screaming, crying shouting- smashing his head against the wall outise his exgf flat, somehow managed to get onto her balcony (3rd floor) and said he was going to kill himself.
six police cars arrive- he runs at them screaming.

I really do not not what to do. How ironic. I feel sick.

It must be a really frighting time for both of you. He will get the help and support he needs for the local mental health team, and their aim is to have people under section for as shorter time as possible and back home with the support of the community CPN.

my thoughts are with you both. x

Twiglett · 30/03/2008 09:46

this is not ironic Tiredemma, it is simply sad.

You have been strong enough to not allow yourself to get to this state. You have been strong enough to take control and seek help when you needed it.

For your brother it has taken a different course, possibly a more frightening one as he has not been able to recognise his own needs.

You know that he will now be given the help and the tools to get better.

And you must not let this affect you beyond your need to support your brother. This is neither your responsibility nor fault. You are a wonderful person. This too you can cope with!

(I hope desperately I am not speaking out of turn)

tiredemma · 30/03/2008 09:52

Thank you Twiglett, Not out of turn at all.

I feel like I should be doing something.

Im angry at my parents, for a variety of reasons, I feel that im the only person who gives a toss about him.

My dad has just phoned, he has been to the police station. They are still waiting for someone to assess him there, the police said thet my brother is 'not fit' for them to talk to at all.

Thats the frustrating thing PW- I know all of the things that should be being done but im frustrated now in case he is just sent back out into the community later.

He smashed some windows and tried to fight with the police, I fear that they will only be interested in this rather than seeing that he is clearly unwell.

He needs assessment and treatment- hell I can see that, he appears so 'disturbed'.

No CPN yet. He has been not right for a while, a couple of weeks ago he became very morbid, suicidal. I told him to go to GP and ask for referral to CMHT, Gp gave him AD's and told him to come back (next week).
He has no 'diagnosis' and has never been in MH services before so he would need Sec2 assessment before any treatment can be considred.

My suspicions are that he is Personality Disorderd, which will probably mean that no MH team will really want to deal with it as they are deemed 'untreatable'. That is upsetting.

He is so fucking 'lost'.
