Hypotonia and Speech Therapy

Does anyone have any good recommendations for speech therapists in London that are good with problems due to hypotonia - my little boy is 19 months and I think we need to now go see a speech therapist.

It would be great to hear from you if you have any experience of speech therapy with a child with hypotonia and whether it was helpful.

Thanks so much,
Hayley

If you go on the helpwithtalking website, they have listings of private speech therapists by area and specialism - that might help you narrow things down.

My DD had hypotonia but no speech problems. I am a little confused about the link but would like to try and help.

not my area, but I understand that the hypotonia can also affect the mouth etc muscles used in speech.

I think TotalChaos is right - 3NAB to be honest Iam not sure whether my DS has speech problems or not yet and am excited to hear that your DD had hypotonia without them and that you use past tense, suggesting that she's now fine! What symptoms did your DD have and how is she getting on now? Thanks loads

My DD had plagiocephaly and was hypotonic. She had some private physio sessions for the hypo and wore a helmet for the plagio. She is 4 1/2 now and a complete bright spark and stroppy little madam! No problems with her talking - just shutting her up at times.

my DD has hypotonia without speech problems, it CAN cause them but not always!
