Rosacea

Over the last 2 years I developed rosacea on my cheeks that has slowly gotten worse. I tried cutting out alcohol (ok, I was pregnant so no alcohol for 9 months bit long enough to have an impact surely?) and only washing my face with water in case my facewash was causing it but neither worked.

I constantly look blotchy and flushed. I feel like it is really aging. I hate it and how I look.

Has anyone managed to reduce or get rid of it? Did cutting out alcohol, caffeine and spicy food have an impact?

I've had it for years. The only thing that has worked is soolantra. It's prescription only.

I bought it from superdrug private prescription. Think it was around £45 for 30g. It will get worse before it gets better though. Took about 2 weeks to see a difference and about 10 weeks for it to fully go.

I had a flare up a while back and my GP prescribed antibiotics alongside soolantra. I did notice that with the antibiotics my skin didn't get worse before better.

I'm now on a maintenance prescription from my GP - apply soolantra 2 nights a week and use azelic acid the other nights.

I react to sun so always make sure I apply SPF every day. I use medik8 day protect. Its a moisturiser with spf50 (you can buy a 30 if preferred). Medik8 is the only brand that doesnt flare my skin.

I tried cutting out all the things you mentioned, made no difference. Soolantra worked for me too, I got it from my gp. I’d seen it mentioned so often on here, so I asked for that specifically. Gp hadn’t heard of it but when they looked it up, were able to prescribe it.

Thanks @Imposter1212 @LuckyCharmz I'll look into Soolantra when I'm no longer breastfeeding

I'm currently having laser treatment for mine which seems to be making a difference. My dermatologist has also prescribed Finacea which I'm applying twice a day.
