Hello, I'm a broker for private medical insurance and I understand insurance can be very confusing and although with good intentions, people do give incorrect information. I'm here to de-bunk and answer any questions you have. Either about your current policy, to start a policy or answer and general questions you have! Please ask away 😀

Are there any policies that cover pre-existing conditions?

PrivateHealthAdvisor · 05/04/2024 17:20

@changer2010 It would all depend when it was pre existing and what it is but yes, some insurers do cover selected pre existing conditions, it all depends on the underwriting too, there are several underwriting methods, Moratorium, FMU & MHD.

I.e raised blood pressure - this is something you take medication for daily, The blood pressure itself wouldn't be covered but the associated conditions of the high blood pressure would be. stroke, heart attack etc.

now if its a knee issue per say and you are wanting to take out cover to jump the queue this wouldn't be covered for at least 2 years.

If you would like to speak on any pre existing and be more private please email me [email protected] with any questions you have.

Do you cover travel ins for pre-exting?
We found that even if you had children high once and next gp visit with meds you was ok for years, do insurance co's massively, unfairly increase premiums?

Me and my OG are constantly waiting for results of various types last few years and not been able to get travel ins - I get that but as you know at times the scan is several weeks away and the other few weeks to see doc etc - what is the solution other than be 100% fit?
Thanks in advance

@DistinguishedSocialCommentator I personally advise people not to take out travel insurance alongside their health insurance as it costly and you'll be paying for in 365 days a year even if you don't travel that year.

Staysure travel insurance would be my go to for people with pre existing conditions. I have no affiliate with them but I've had good feedback for them. I have personally taken out insurance when going abroad ( Cruise) but thankfully I didn't need to use it.

Thank you, we have used Staysure - not the cheapest but appears to be the best

People take out insurance for a peace of mind and hoping never to use it.

I've noted what you have said, thanks

@DistinguishedSocialCommentator Agreed, not genuinely the cheapest but the peace of mind is worth the few extra ££.
