Hi,

Just want to see if anyone had experienced the same.
I've had a really stressful few months, I hit my breaking point after a scary weekend with a very poorly DC (who's now miles better). I took today and tomorrow off sick with stress which is unheard of for me but entirely necessary.

I dropped DC to nursery and all was fine, got home and went back to bed. When I woke I went to sit up and had a similar feeling to when you've had a few glasses of wine at the table and go to move... only to realise you're fairly drunk.

Laying or sitting I'm absolutely fine. No problems at all. Get up to make a cup of tea and either end up on my butt or bump into every wall going.
Or both.

I've had labyrinthitis before which resulted in me feeling like I was doing cartwheels when I shut my eyes and was a constant awful feeling.

But I've never had this before. While it's not a massive issue because thankfully I now have two days to sit on the sofa, I would quite like some advice from anyone who's had it before.
I don't feel unwell as such, is this just stress? Will it bog off soon? I'm not loving it!

Thanks!

I am not a medic. If you get dizzy only on/after movement it might be BPPV - feels horrible and disabling but is not unusual. Official advice here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vertigo/ but you might want to look up Epley Manoeuvres. I've used these with great success.

Vertigo

Vertigo is a symptom, rather than a condition in itself. It's the feeling that you, or the environment around you, is moving or spinning.

Thank you! I'll have a look for that now. It's just so strange, it's every single time I get up out of nowhere! Guess these two days really are going to be used for some enforced rest!

You might have something viral brewing. I often get this prior to blocked ears or blocked sinus stuff (usually because of a cold but also before I had Covid.) You might be run down due to all the stress and picked something up.

Sorry to hear it’s been a rough time. I hope you feel better soon x

Thank you Neon. You may be right. I'm currently side eyeing the newly recovered toddler and wondering if she's the culprit!

I had this from serious stress (very bad breakup, death in the family and scary new job at same time). Stress can do terrible things. Still go and get it checked out. I went to the GP to make sure nothing was sinister. I was signed off for a week and instructed to rest it out with some medication for the morning nausea I also had.

FlakyAquaQuoter · 04/04/2024 21:17

Rainbow, I'm sorry to hear that happened and I hope you're doing okay now. Thank you for sharing your experience. It's probably a good idea to run it past the GP. While I've got no concerning symptoms in the way that I'm not feeling unwell, I certainly couldn't drive or go out like this. (And I'm already covered in bruises from walls and doors!). I'd be an absolute liability!
I've had a niggling ache in my lower left side of my back for a few days now and over the course of the afternoon that's become quite troublesome so either my body is quite determined for a stress break, or I have indeed managed to come down with something.

How is your blood pressure?

FlakyAquaQuoter · 04/04/2024 22:01

Pixie - it's always been on the lower end, I haven't a way of checking at home though. I had though potentially a bit of a postural drop as the issue is when I stand. Though it persists for the entire time I'm moving.
It's just so weird. I don't feel dizzy in the typical way. It's just that no matter how slow I go I'm literally stumbling into everything. It really is like being drunk, only It's not so funny when I end up flat on my back!
