High blood pressure

I'm in my late thirties and keep having high blood pressure readings. How do I bring my blood pressure down? I have quite a healthy lifestyle but I'm under a lot of stress that's hard to reduce in the short term. I'm finding it hard to relax because I feel like I'm not relaxing well enough!

Lose weight if needed, lower salt, avoid alcohol.

The position you take your BP in can also affect readings, as can having a full bladder or taking it over a sleeve.

Google the correct positioning to take BP readings, a lot of people have higher readings due to taking it incorrectly.

Why do you keep taking it?
How high is it?

Go caffeine free. Covid left me with HBP and caffeine free tea has done more to lower my BP than the pills.

Weight
Salt
Alcohol

are normally the biggest things. If you're already doing this then reducing stress will help but some people just have high blood pressure

Thank you for your suggestions. I took my blood pressure at home as I needed to take it to be able to order more of the pill so when it was high I decided to come off contraception a month ago. I fainted a couple of weeks ago as well so I had a doctor's appointment this week and it was high there too- it's consistently 130something over 90something. I could definitely reduce alcohol and caffeine. My diet is otherwise healthy and low in salt.

That's useful, thank you.
I've given up weight,
I've cut down on salt,
I'll stick with the alcohol.
2 out of 3 isn't bad!

I've always had normal BP. But I swear it went up after I got long covid in 2020. I've never heard anyone else say this. But that does seem to be around the time it changed from 110/70 to 145 ish/90 ish. I'm slim, active, fit, good diet and so on. I always thought it was covid too. I will try caffeine free.

That isn't really that high, I'm sure tweaking a few things you can get that down. I'm 34 and my bp (before starting on the medication for it) would easily hit 140s or 150s / 100s.
Try and lower stress and like you said, alcohol and caffeine and you'll probably be able to see the difference in your readings almost straight away
