Fluoxetine/ Prozac muscle twitches

Hi,
I've been on fluoxetine 20mg for a month now with a few side effects to begin with:
-nausea
-diarrhoea
-upset stomach
-headaches
-dizziness
-jitteriness
-increased anxiety
However, recently (the past 3 days) I've been experiencing muscle twitching/spasms. It just feels like the muscle contracts and then stops again. It's mainly felt in my legs and one leg in particular.
I've googled it and it comes up with serotonin syndrome, which I feel is unlikely given I have none of the other side effects. Has anyone experienced this or has any idea about this symptom?

Thank you

I had this. Only mine was full on body jerking and I had my license revoked for medical reasons. An MRI scan of my brain and and EEG showed I wasn't having seizures and once I stopped the medication they stopped. Took a further 12 weeks for the DVLA to give me my drivers license back though as they wouldn't accept the all clear from my neurologist

I had jaw clenching on fluoxetine but only on 60mg which is a very high dose. Was fine when dropped back to 40mg.

I'm not a doctor or any kind of medical professional, but IME it's common and normal with antidepressants, and usually harmless in itself, as long as you don't have any other symptoms, and it's not constant or severe. If you start focusing on it and worrying about it it's possible you might end up hyperfocused on it, and that anxiety about the fasciculations/twitches could cause other problems like trouble sleeping, or even worsen the symptoms themselves, through the mind-body connection because bodies and brains seem to have an evilly ironic sense of humour sometimes. They can get better after these first few weeks, or they can stay the same the whole time you take the meds. I even had twitches that continued for a couple of years after I'd stopped taking one particular type of antidepressant, though that may have just been that my own nervous system had somehow got into the habit of twitching. As I'd been reassured that in my case it was harmless, it didn't bother me much.

HOWEVER, IMO, neurological-type symptoms like this are always something that you should check with the doctor who prescribed the meds about, just to be sure, even if other people have had something that sounded the same and was nothing important — at four weeks in, you should be getting regular reviews to see how you're getting on.

In other words — do get it checked out by a doctor, but it's probably harmless twitching, it might go away, and it's up to you whether it's something you're willing to tolerate.
