Yearly periodontal check up ......still more to do inside my mouth.

I've posted on here before about my periodontal issues.
Had my yearly check up today with my periodontist, he's happy with my maintenance, thinks I'm doing a great job.......but there's one tooth that I just can't clean properly and now a pocket has developed.

It's my upper left wisdom tooth, it has a gap in front from an extracted tooth, so in theory it shouldn't be a problem to get stuck into, but the more my hygienist showed me what to do, the more I got it wrong when i tried it. I'm supposed to use an interspace "tuft" brush, but just couldn't get near to getting it right. Maybe there's something on YouTube.

Left the practice feeling despondent, I don't want to lose the tooth. My hygienist said it's just a blip.
Can anyone offer words of advice?

Get a waterpik

I knew my post was niche and would only appeal to those who are periodontically challenged, but I was hoping someone in this dental field might be able to share their expertise.......it's not too late!

I was advised to use an interspace brush by my periodontist and my hygienist, so I'm going to stick to that for now.

But thanks for your suggestion, I've never used one.

Back to my original heading....... still more to do in my mouth.
I always get good feedback from my yearly checkup, because I'm fully invested in what I've been taught in my appointments.
But I can't help but wonder if I'm the exception rather than the rule, do most periodontic patients give it there all?

Only asking because I'm fully aware how quickly plaque develops in your mouth.

My final comment is that my treatment is private and not on the NHS.
Yes it's expensive, but in my opinion worth every penny.
My mouth has been transformed since I was referred to this practice 20 years ago, never looked back.

Had a similar situation. A specialist periodontist eventually told my local dentist to extract the wisdom tooth. (Small jaw; big teeth.). I was in my late 50s at the time. I felt better for it.

That was also my experience once I was referred to the specialist. Had long had general discomfort in my gums. The specialist sorted me out.
