Third chest infection in 12 weeks

Hi I have come down with a wheezy chest, sinus pain and a temp again. I have two lots of antibiotics and it’s back again. Glands are up and I’m having chills. Have been clearing bits and bobs of mucus - some clear and some light green.
I did have a chest X-ray on Tuesday and I suppose I need to wait for that. I’m low in vitamin D, iron and am pre diabetic.
i was advised to have another blood test after I’ve finished the last dose which I have booked in for tomorrow.
I suppose I’m worried I have something else going on. Anyone with a similar presentation?
thanks

I had four chest infections in 3 months, in 2022. The last bout turned into walking pneumonia. The doctor I saw said the chances are that the infection isn't clearing properly in the first place if it's coming back so soon. In the end I was put on a two week course of antibiotics, steroids and montelukast because the infections were setting off my asthma. That seemed to clear it as i didn't get another infection
Get well soon xx

Chest infection is pneumonia. Chest infection is either bronchitis (viral) or pneumonia (viral, bacterial, secondary bacterial). https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/infections-and-poisoning/chest-infection/#:~:text=A%20chest%20infection%20is%20an,infected%20person%20coughs%20or%20sneezes. ''Recurrent pneumonia is defined as 3 or more episodes of pneumonia in a lifetime or 2 or more episodes within a six-month period.'' Didn't they tell you it was pneumonia? Didn't they tell you it is recurrent pneumonia? Didn't they find find out the cause of the recurrent pneumonia? didn't they find out what bacteria/virus caused the pneumonia? Did they test you? https://www.cancertherapyadvisor.com/home/decision-support-in-medicine/pediatrics/recurrent-pneumonia/#:~:text=Recurrent%20pneumonia%20is%20defined%20as,%2C%20dyspnea%2C%20and%20chest%20discomfort. Causes for recurrent pneumonia: asthma, damaged immunity etc. Didn't they investigate? Lung damage caused by covid: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/what-coronavirus-does-to-the-lungs Pneumonia is the most common covid complication: did they rule it out for every 'chest infection'/pneumonia episode?

Well I had a few really winters after having kids like this till they finally (despite a DS and other family members already diagnosed with it) diagnosed me with asthma.

Suspect from other things I may also have been very low in vit D and few other vitamins however once they got me clear of infection and on regular brown inhalers not had one infection since.

I do look back and wonder why the fuck it took so long especially as I did ask if I could have asthma - also wonder what the hell my family were doing making out being unable to walk across a room was normal or being so worried to sleep as breathing was so laboured especially as I was often in sole care of babies and young kids at time.

I kept getting chest infections that very quickly needed antibiotics and lingering coughs.

Was diagnosed with asthma in my late 30s

But, I had to ask to see the asthma nurse to get a test. And make a special request as I wasn't at that point diagnosed with asthma. At my surgery the GPs don't do anything with asthma and the one I kept seeing didn't appear to know how to establish if I had it or not.

He'd given me steroids, cough had gone, only for it to return when they ran out. Said maybe I just needed a blue inhaler (you should be treated with. Steroid inhaler.)

Proper diagnosis is using a peak flow monitor and then using a ventonlin and testing again to see if it makes any difference.

I had to speak to asthma uk for advice and also a friend who's a nurse and asthma trained.

Thanks all - I got a third dose of antibiotics which appear to be working - GP felt it was more sinus related. I actually got a face to face appointment!!! Chest X-ray was clear - vitamin D low so now on tablets.
Hopefully these will clear it up.
