it starts as a little lump, then grows downwards and it looks like a skin tag. THEN it goes hard, eventually the skin splits into small 'feathers' and it looks almost floral, then it will completely dry out and fall off. when she saw he gp the first time it appeared he called it something and i know it had the word 'horn' in it.

thing is, this is the third time it has appeared, and it seems fatter this time. she is very self conscience about it, and wants to know why it keeps coming back. i have tried googling skin growths but nothing comes up that looks or sounds right.

i am taking her back to the GP next week if we can get an appointment, but would like to find out more if possible.

Sounds to me like a filiform wart. There is somethng called a cutaneous horn but usually they are in older folk.

thanks, have just googled it, and thats what she has. how do we get rid of it though?

Tricky-would probably go by itself without a scar if it was left but might take a few years. TBH if I were her GP I'd send her to a dermatologist or even a plastic surgeon-it's her face and she's young.
Sorry can't be of more help-but be pushy if you need to be!

I had one when I was about 11, I kept thinking it had gone but it kept coming back. I used to fiddle with it though, if I'd left it alone it might have gone by itself.
I eventually had it removed under local anaesthetic when I was about 13. (I now have a tiny scar, but I can only really see it when I look hard for it)

Yes children's skin does generally heal fantastically well.

if it was her first one, i wouldnt be so worried, buts regrown 3 times now, and she is so self conscience of it. loads of people say 'whats that on your nose' its very noticable.

will take her to the GP for a referral, and also dd3 at the same time as she still hasnt had her referral through to have her ear tag removed/reduced.
