HELP RASH!

DH has jus called - DS has rash on body, he suspects slapped cheek disease (after some googling). Should we take him to the docs just in case? Am at work strating to panic - DH perfectly calm and says NOT scarlet fever or anything too awful...

He has been grumpy for a few days, but I assumed he was just teething and unsettled.

DS rashes up ALL the time with temperatures etc

However, if this is unusual for your DS then i would take him to the docs/do the glass test - if nothing else then at least you will be reassured

have a cuppa and calm down - your DS is with your DH which is good

EffiePerine · 28/03/2008 15:48

he has had spotty cheeks and an off and on temp for a few days - I thought teeth...

heat rash a possibility

EffiePerine · 28/03/2008 15:49

he has had his mmr (phew as lots of measles cases nearby)

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 28/03/2008 15:49

he may be virally and therefore rashy especially if he has had a temperature on and off

call NHS direct?

RubySlippers · 28/03/2008 15:50

when did he have MMR? They can get rashy 7 - 10 days after the jab iirc

EffiePerine · 28/03/2008 15:50

Suggested that to DH, he says DS is fine and not to worry

aw - horrid being at work when your LO is ill

WanderingTrolley · 28/03/2008 15:52

Might not be slapped cheek - it's not a very serious one, normally.

Teething will give some babies fevers and rashes. Take ds to dr just in case - at least if it is you can get some advice about how to treat it (which will be Calpol etc)

Slapped cheek

EffiePerine · 28/03/2008 15:53

DH has done glass test, DS fine but now having majot tantrum

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 28/03/2008 15:54

GP not open tomorrow, suspect won't be able to see him this afternoon (besides am an hour away atm)

think am just having PFB wobbles

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 28/03/2008 15:54

tantrumming sounds good - floppy and sleepy would be a cause for concern

i have to say i would still take to the GP just to be sure

EffiePerine · 28/03/2008 15:55

report from DH: he is breathing and not limp (just cross)

OP posts:
WanderingTrolley · 28/03/2008 15:56

Agree with Ruby about the tantrum

You need energy for that

EffiePerine · 28/03/2008 15:58

DH says no point in docs

actually our out of hours GP service is pretty efficient (based at local hospital) so we could take him there if he gets worse

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 28/03/2008 15:59

if your OOH doc is good then would rely on that

ours is rubbish - 2 hours for a call back which is why, if i am worried i get to my docs

wish your DS better!

EffiePerine · 28/03/2008 16:00

Thanks for all the reassurance

only a couple of hours fretting to go...

EffiePerine · 28/03/2008 18:56

right, have checked out the spots and it looks like a heat rash to me. DS is drugged up and in bed - will keep an eye on things and take him to the docs if necessary
