Stuck a very sharp knife into my hand late Saturday night.
Thought it might need a stitch, but wasn't prepared to sit in a and e for hours!
I put paper stitches on it and small dressing, still hurting quite badly, I know it's too late now though😐 asking for next time, as undoubtedly I will do it again 😂

No I wouldn't have thought so. Keep it dry and clean and it should heal quickly

I don't think so. You might want to get some strips from the pharmacy to keep it closed though.

I would have said absolutely to a couple of steri strips or glue.

Why did you photograph it initially?

You can get steri strips from a pharmacy but they don't use them in hospitals any more.

Took a pic for my son who insisted on seeing it...... I stuck it in quite deep.
Anyway it's got steristrips on but still bleeding a bit and throbbing quite badly.
I didn't think it needed one which is why I didn't bother 😂

Actually is the glue available to buy in a pharmacy? I thought it was only used in hospitals. Would be handy to have at home!

Steri strips to pull it together in a cross shape. Plaster and paracetamol.

keep it rested don’t pull at it and rest it

My son had a cut like this on his forehead and it had to be glued internally and externally. I think I'd at least ask a pharmacist if nothing else.

only a mere anaesthetist here, but have passed many a happy hour watching surgeons sort out gammy hand wounds in theatre - I'd have a pretty low threshold for getting that looked at. Definitely wouldn't be gluing it or putting kitchen supplies in it!

If it's still bleeding after 12+ hours it needs looking at properly! Go to urgent care.

Thanks for your concern, I stuck it in deep accidentally whilst trying to cut a potato!
I have rheumatoid arthritis and have not the best hand strength so that is why I'm rather cack handed!
I really shouldn't be allowed anywhere near sharp utensils 😂😂

We superglue wounds like that in our house and have had no problems .

I cut mine a few years ago along this line, maybe 7-10mm deep at its worst point. They X-rayed for glass but didn’t stitch, just four steri strips and a plaster. You can just about see the scar in the photo. If it’s throbbing I would maybe err on the side of caution and go to the urgent treatment centre if you’ve got one
