Open inguinal hernia surgery

Has anyone had this surgery? Unfortunately I have to have the open type due to previous abdo surgeries - c/s among others 😆 which prob caused the hernia.
I’m just thinking about recovery time. The surgeon said 2 weeks off work ideally but I can wfh and I work part time. Just wondering if I’ll be ok after a week to sit at a desk or even work from bed on laptop. We are a very small team and there are things only I do, although my manager can do them if necessary and I can set things up.l before I go off.

I had op about 7 weeks ago. I think wfh you will be fine after a week. The operation site is still tender but it doesn't really hurt when you aren't moving. So part time hours on laptop from home should be perfectly doable if you want to do it.

Not sure what you mean about open surgery but I had an op on an inguinal hernia and was home the next day. No pain. Didn’t really convalesce at all.

Thanks. It will def make it easier if I can do that! Glad you are recovered now too.

Open as opposed to keyhole! Recovery is supposed to be longer.
Surgeon says to avoid stairs for first couple of days and sitting at a desk can aggravate it.
